Just got accepted yesterday. It is the second/larger study of a non-drug, no surgery treatment for chronic pain.

The company is called Omneuron in Menlo Park, CA. This research project uses real-time functional MRI (rtfMRI) to assess brain activation during the experience of pain while participants attempt to mentally control their brain activation and pain response.

I will be able to see the activity in my own brain on an MRI and try to learn to control it.

I'm not expecting it to be a cure but am very excited to be able to interact with the research team and help with the research process of developing a potential future treatment for chronic pain.

Hey, maybe it will even work ! My first appt is 1/12/07 and the study involves 6 weeks of home training, 6 MRI scans (these will begin in early Feb) and 5 weeks of follow up.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

    Sounds good!

I am in a trial study of a home program being tested on people with fibromyalgia. It will last four months.
    So far, so good.

I have google searched clinical research facilities and put my name on lists at places like this:

You can also search your local teaching hospital websites, they usually have some research going on too.

I will be sure to keep you all posted during and after the study ends.
