in my right trapezius muscle (muscle that connects shoulder to the neck). If you search that muscle name on google you'll find a picture and know which muscle i'm referring too.

Anyways, so for years now I have been experiencing these snapping pains in this muscle. It feels like a guitar string snapping and breaking and then is followed by a burning sensation. This typically did not last long and wouldn't happen that often.

But this year it has gotten worse...firstly, it started happening more often when I would put my hands above my head or grab something high.

Secondly, now I am getting this pins and needles sensation constantly in that muscle. Especially if I am using my arms for anything...like typing at a computer, doing my hair, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do?

(I also should tell you that I have also been experiencing the exact same snapping pain in my right heel.)

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I haven't had any surgery at all...this is why I am so stumped. Other than that you'd think maybe I injured myself there, but I never have. Strange...

The only other thing I can think of is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome...it's the only thing that seems to even somewhat relate to this. But even that has alot of symptoms that I am not experiencing.

I feel so lost with this...and pretty much everything going on with my body these days. I'm sick of going to doctors I just want to solve everything myself...but I know one of these days I'm going to have to cave in and go see a doctor about this.

Thanks again for your help! Hopefully I'll get more responses and feedback from others too.

I'd recommend you see a doctor or physio.

I'd been living with an intermittent pain in my shoulder for years, until I was driven to see the doc a few months back. He referred me to a physio and it turned out to be caused by a dislocated collar bone!

I have hypermobility, so I'm not suggesting that you have anything this drastic. It's just that sometimes pain can be a knock-on effect of something really odd, that only a specialist can spot.

    strange pain:

I have had that that was the first oain I had when I was told I had fibro, But it could also be bursitis I have that reagularly.

has for the heel thing I was told for me it was bones spurs and my doc told me to get some sole support inserts for my shoes and I did and that worked for me I have not had that problem for a few years now.

also when I strated sleeping in waterbed the shoulder and neck pain got better for me.

    hope this helps some

First of all, you are not bothering me at all by responding a 2nd time! I really appreciate any and ALL responses... so keep 'em coming! :)

Yah I am definitely putting off seeing a doctor...after being diagnosed a few months ago with Fibro and then a month ago with NAFLD (Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disase)...I'm a little put off by doctors and getting anymore diagnoses. hmmm...anyways, I know it must be done.

Thanks again for your input in the matter.

I love your user name on the board! I love love love dogs! They truly are "Man's Bestfriend".

Ok, back on topic...thank you very much for your advice. Although I'm alittle against taking medicine...right now anyways. Maybe if it gets worse I'll change my mind. Right now I can cope with it.

I will most definitly look into a pain clinic. I didn't even know there was such a thing? I'll have to ask my family doctor about that.

Yah, I think that's what I'm going to have to do is go back to my doctor and see what she has to say.

Is there a specialist type of doctor that specialises in backs/shoulders, do you know? Or would that be a Rheummy?

I'd be interested to see what they think it is...cause I feel clueless right now.

    Thanks for your post! :)

I actually never told my Rheummy about this pain when I was diagnosed with Fibro, mainly because it wasn't as big of a problem. It used to happen a few times a year and that's it...but now in the past few months it has been happening almost daily!

For the bone spurs in your heel, could you feel anything different in your heel? Did they take xrays by any chance to diagnose that?

A water bed hey? I'm not sure if I could handle that...I would probably feel motion sick! hehe

I just bought a Memory Foam Topper for my mattress and also a Memory Foam Pillow...they have helped me to have better sleeps. But still not the greatest...

Thanks for your post! Very helpful. :)

Thank you for your posts! I am really begining to hate going to the doctors...it seems as though everytime I go there is something else wrong. I just don't want to hear it anymore.

Thanks for the warnings about strokes...you can never be too careful with that one.

I'm not really into Chiropracters though, I must admit...I've had some really bad experiences, plus they're really expensive up here. But we'll see, maybe I'll give 'em another try.

no they never took xrays of my feet it was just an educated guess on my GP's part. as for the waterbed well I married into it lol it was my husbands when we got married.

unforunaly he snores terribly and I am forced into the spare room where I have treid to make it as comfortable for me as possible but I wake up very stiff and sore in the morning so it was a short repreive for me. I would love to try the memory foam though.

as for chiroparctors I have not been for the fibro but my neice says its helping her for the most part or she is in denial of it she goes regualrly.

Find a chiropractor that specializes in the ACTIVATOR method. It sure does beat the regular chiro. Its gentle . They use a little tool on your spine, while you lay face down, so no fear of anything. I beleive you can google it. Im sure they have an assoc.
    Good luck

I have the EXACT same problem. If I work on the computer for too long that muscle BURNS like it is ON FIRE!!!

I also have the "snapping thing" when reaching over my head. Isn't FM fun???

Hi........of course you should ask doc to x-ray, give you some physical therapy, and always try acupuncture. In the meantime.......I have found my miracle fix for pain.....EMU OIL. Get it from e-bay (costs less there), don't get the refined version......get the yellow/white type. Get small amount (it losses strength over time). I swear by this stuff....and I have tried EVERYTHING! Hope you get the same results! Good luck hon!
