    Hi Everyone,

I've been off this board for 3-4 months due to a stagnant period in my medical appointments and being VERY sick.
About a month ago I got soo sick to the point of going to the hospital & being admitted for 5 days. This was before I had officially got a diagnosis of Fibro. I'd seen every specialist under the sun & had every test done, all coming back normal. At that point I had been throwing up for weeks, had broken out in very deep sores all over my back, but & leg, have become sensitive to everything under the sun and had developed cold sweats along with body pain from head to toe. Since this time, I've gotten a slight bit better, but still am suffering dearly, even now that I'm on the Fentanyl patch. I have help with my kids as I have 4 little ones who need alot of attention & support.
Well the other day I was called to go see a Rheumatologist who I wasn't supposed to see until Oct. He's a chronic pain specialist at the Foothills hospital in Calgary AB. After reviewing my history & examining me he said there was no doubt about it that I had Fibro. He said he would get in touch with all my docs & get a plan together for me. He said I'm suffering from this due to a post partum hemmorhage I had 1 1/2 years ago. A small sense of relief now, but I'm in great pain & feel my life has been stolen from me. Definately a sense of anger! I hope to come here more often as I desperately need suppport as no one understands where I'm at. Thanks for listening ! Laura

Getting a FM diagnosis is at once a relief..and a scare. What you find when you read up on there is no cure, and 100 differing opinions about what causes it, and what you can do to feel better.
I have been diagnosed for 4 years now...and as you will find when you read this board..that it has been a very long road for me and for others with this same illness.
I hope you have a good team of doctors. There are some meds available that can relieve some of the pain, and help with some of the other issues that you are having. Not all of us have the same symptoms to battle..but most of us have pain, fatigue, some sleep issues, low energy and assorted other ODD symptoms that can be anything from scary!
I reccomend reading Darryl Starlanyls books to help you understand a bit more about the illness. When I read her first book..I felt like there was someone else who totally understood what I was going thru!
I hope things get better for you..It must be so difficult for you feeling this lousy..and trying to be a good parent too!

Sorry to hear about what you are going through, I'm 35 and my journey with this began 3 years ago. I also have 4 children ages 5 to 12. Its a hard adjustment personally and for the family. It sounds like you have had all of the testing and so forth and have a Rheumy who is willing to get the ball rolling for you, so you seem to be on the right track. I spent the first couple of years being mad about what happened to me, it did nothing but make me and my family feel worse. I am now working on being content as I am. I do research, try different docs, but mainly I want to be ok with who I am now. I've got a long life ahead of me and I don't want it to be filled with sadness and anger. I very definantly have those days, they are farther apart now though. YOu are in the right place, this board is a blessing.

    God Bless

    Hi Laura!

We live in the same city! I sympathize with you in respect to your pain....we could have the same lives, only I have 3 boys under 9. I am curious how you got in to see the chronic pain specialist as my doc just referred me there and they would not see my because, I too, am on the fentanyl patch....they sent my referral instead to the addiction centre and now things are a mess!! Although, I have a good doc who is always in my corner, I was wondering if there was another way to see the pain specialist?

    Thanks Christine

I'm so srry that it has taken this long to get a diagnosis. It does sound like your Rheumatologist will be able to help. Your anger and emotional pain are quite normal and I hope you can come back here to get some support.

Be sure that you don't give up! There is hope and people are finding relief. It takes time but ir can happen.

Take care. You are in my thoughts.

Even many of us here probabaly can't imagine what you have been through.

Just from what little you posted, it sounds like torture....and and I don't say that lightly.

    I mean, real torture.

Wish you every break there is and for some miracles to come your way.

Believe me I know what your saying, suffering in silence has been probably the worst experience out of anything else for me.

You are not alone, God Bless, Rita

    hi laura
God bless you and the other girls on here with little ones, i don't know how you cope and wish i could help in some way! I was lucky enough not to get this til my kids were in high school and i hate to see what you girls are going thru, motherhood is a struggle to begin with and this complicates it so much!
I'm glad you have help with the kids, I hope one of these new experimental meds/protocols out there can help you to reverse it or get rid of this, I wish it for all of us, but for you with young children especially.
On the good side--if the doc is right and it all started just 1 1/2 yrs. ago, shouldn't take too long to reverse with the guai protocol.
i've been having some decent results with mirapex, but as i gradually bump up the dose, it makes me so sleepy for a few days each time i increase, i could never handle little ones, i take my 3 yr. old grandson for even a few hours and it does me in.
please come to us for support even tho we can't physically help you, we understand.
God bless you and all of the young moms struggling with this illness--L
