    Dear Curly:

Sorry, I do not have a good answer for you, but if you ask your doctor what you can take you might get some relief.

I do have a funny story for you though...7 years ago I was taking meds for RA, including vicodin, prednisone and soma. I was also on the pill. I somehow managed to get pregnant, and did not know it, as I continued to have my normally abnormal periods, and all the pregnancy symptoms I had were normal to me. I shattered a bone in my foot walking on cold concrete in bare feet. I had an x-ray. I also got bronchitis and took antibiotics. This was all before I knew I was pregnant. I did not find out I was pregnant until about 30 weeks (weird, I know) and by then I was sure that the baby would have all sorts of problems from the meds I had taken. Fortunately, or rather miraculously, Katherine was born with apgars of 9 and 9, and weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds 13 ounces and was 22 inches long. I did have to have a c-section, due to problems with my hip.

Fortunately, I was living a fairly healthy lifestyle. Lots of walking and played lots of softball (I played up to the week I had my daughter), and worked up to the day I went to the hosptial to have her. I am trying to remember, but I think it was tylenol that was okay to take. I think that you also might want to make sure you get enough vitamins, and tere is one (folic acid maybe?) that you need to have in your system if you even WANT to get pregnant, as it protects agains spina bifida.

    Talk to your doctor.

    Good luck.

I would stick close to the doc on this and let him know the whole story. You may even be able to have sex soon.

Our diseases are so uncommon it is so important to have that special medical link.

Your doctor can guide you in what to do for the pain and the best way to handle the sex life.

I am glad you brought this up--everything up on the table with no frills.

    Good for you!

I am actually feeding my six month old right now so I am one hand typing this so hang with me!

Before I got pregnant I was on a lot of pain meds and in sooooooo much pain! I didn't think I could get pregnant so I never took precautions as to what meds I was on or not on.

Funny how your instincts work though. I just decided one day that I didn't want to take the Methadone anymore. I was tired of being treated like a junkie by my pain specialist so went cold turkey which is NOT smart but that is what I did.

I was in a lot of pain and life wasn't good but my Gyno was giving me Lortabs for endometrial pain so that helped a little. (I have Endometriosis)

Very soon after that I found out I was pregnant and had to quit ALL medication even the antidepressant. The only thing I was allowed take was tylenol and benadryl for sleep and my prenatal vitamin.

The ONLY time I was allowed to take ANY type of pain medication was when I was 18 1/2 weeks pregnant and I had to have my appendix removed. And that was only if absolutely neccessary! The doctors said to try to take as little as possible and that is what I did.

There are some women who take pain medication during their pregnancy. In my opinion I don't think it is healthy for the baby but that is MY opinion. MY opinion is that the baby might have some sort of dependency on the pain medication once they are born and will go through a withdrawal.

My entire pregnancy I did everything possible for the health of my baby.

At about six months I did have to be put on an antidepressant for depression. Wellbutrin and Zoloft are the two antidepressants that are safe to take during pregnancy. They are stated class B I think which means they don't pass to the baby. I started Wellbutrin. After my pregnancy I had to go up to 300mg for PPD but everything is great now!

I wish I could write more but this is really hard to reply like this. If you have any question or just want to talk page me on the board.

(((HUGS))) and good luck to you!

Can you take Tylenol? I would also call the pharmacist and ask.

If anyone would know, they should. Good luck..
