Has infrared helped anyone else? I have a pt appointment today and that is what they are going to do - but as you can tell I have doubts about whether or not it is going to help. I went on Tuesday and they did it, and they had me do some isotonic <sp?> exercises to strengthen the joints and I was fine that day. But then yesterday (Wednesday) I started moving around and ended up with pain in my hips and shoulders at an 8 on the pain scale and had to take a whole bunch of Excedrine to get it to go away and I couldn't do anything all day. So I am not so sure about this. Pain like around a 4 or a 5 I was expecting - but an 8? Everyone here is right, I need a specialist! Thanks in advance for the help.

A friend of mine bought an infrared box that you sit in for 20 minutes at at time hoping it would help with cfids, it did not but everone is different.

He also bought a hypobiaric (sp) chamber that is helping along with b12 shots twice weekly that help.

The infrared that you would receive at PT is not the same as going into a sauna box with infrared. This would be using the penetrating infrared heat in the area that you have pain. Kind of like you'd feel with a heating pad, but the heat is supposed to go deeper into the joints where you would get more benefit.

The hope would be to help loosen you up to do the exercise and have you be able to get stronger from the exercise. By being stronger, the pain would hopefully be reduced.

It's definitely worth a try if you haven't done it before. I hope it helps you feel better :)

    take care, Pam

I was just checking out an alternative medicine doctor in my area who has treatments for fibro and this was one that was listed on her website. I really don't know anything about it and wondered what it was. Can you tell me more about what they do? I think the heat or something is supposed to help.
