I was looking for some good info on how to prevent my children from smoking and I found the website "" The site had a poll on there about whether or not smoking was a gateway to other addictive behavior. Not many people responded but it left me thinking about it. Anyway, I was wondering if you could go on the site and vote so we could see what everyone thinks?! Thanks!

I haven't heard smoking leads to other addictive behaviors. If it did, I think I
would have heard/read about it sometime in the last several decades.

I don't even think smoking is addictive; at least not for everyone. I was a
"social smoker" at parties and social gatherings for decades. I smoked about a
    pack a week.

When I decided to quit, I did w/o any trouble. It was a habit, but not an addiction.

On the other hand, for those addicted to nicotine, totally different story.

hooked on tobacco from smoking marijuana. I guess he was trying marijuana, and there was a shortage of it, so he diluted it with tobacco to make it go further. Anyway, he stopped smoking marijuana, but couldn't stop nicotine cigarrettes. Cheers, mr Bill
