    H-O-L-Y C-O-W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you EVER had a Doctor spend 2 hours with you? Well now I have!!! OMG!!!!!!

Told me I "was a very interesting case." My response was, "So it really is just all in my head?" He laughed and said "No. your FM is real, but I'm fairly certain that you also have some pinched nerves in your cervical and lumbar area." Ordered an MRI, gave me a script for some muscle relaxers (with 3, yes 3 refills!), switched me from Neurontin to Topamax, refilled my Zoloft and switched me from Vicodin to oxycodone - and this will just FLOOR you, the script is for 120 and then he says to me, "This may not get you through the month, so if you see you are running out give us a call so we can get you some more. I want you to take what you need to control your pain. You know your pain take what you need. I'm not going to limit you. By the way your spine and hips feel I'm surprised you function at all."

Can you flippen believe this guy!! Nice office, super, AWESOME staff, and 2 hours with the Doctor and his RN.

I am so blessed!! I am NOT crazy!! I am not a drug seeker!
I am not faking it! I have been helped!!

I go back in one month, "Call us anytime if you find this isn't working for you. Okay? Promise?" OMG!!!!!

I wanted to just fall over, my Pscholigist is going to be so happy, she was ready to go put her boot up my PCP [edited]!! LOL!!

I cannot wait for the MRI results, actually I can't wait for my PCP Mr. "You only need 4 Vicodins a day. After all this just (JUST???) Fibromyalgia, it's not like we're talking about cancer here." Yeah, dude and it's not like I'm asking you for liquid Morphine either . . . .phht!

I so wish ALL of you could have the help you need. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this family!!

Good for you Lolee!!!I just came back from my jack-a$$ rheumatologist and he basically said oh I cant help you anymore. Ugh time to find another one. I hate it. I asked for something just a tad stronger than tylenol and he pretty much poo pooed it..."There really isnt anything I can prescribe!!"

His office has plaques all over with awards and stuff and I literally said as I was walking out "I guess I will have to take your TOP DOCTOR award away now since you cant help me"...Good riddance..Maybe I should see a pain spec. I wish I lived near you Lolee instead of across the country :(

Now this visit is a dream come true!!!
How very lucky you are Lolee!!
    I'm very happy for you!!!
Did it take you a long time to fing "Mr or should I say,Dr Right?"
I've been looking for him since 1996.(roughly)?
The strongest pain med I get is ultram or darvecet.
Neither one works for me for FM pain.
I have other back problems too,..like you.
I'll never forget my visit to a new pain clinic.
Keep in mind my primary siggested it because he knew I was in some serious pain and he would'nt give me anything strong enough.
After a half hr evaluation, he said "#1,... when you have Fibro you need daily exersize. and Number #2 we do not treat Fibro with narcotics because (are you ready???)
Because generally we find that FM is'nt that painful to require such meds.
Yea,..!!! I laughed my [edited] off all the way home!! in bteween tears :(
I know the meds you got will help you alot!!
I've gotten them before from friends and they helped me alot! congrads!!
    Good for you!!
    Hugs

Ya'know I was so hesitant to post because I know what a long strange trip it's been for most of you . . . . . but then again I was #1 so happy and #2 wanted everyone to know that sometimes, SOMETIMES, there IS help.

I have been very blessed in my journey . . . . to a point that is, but I have certainly NOT had to go through what most of you had. My PCP was giving me the Vicodins but for instance if I told him I took 10 a day he'd give me script for 4 a day, well, I would ALWAYS run out. If they are there I'm taking them. It was embaressing to say the least. He then sent me to a Rhuemy who was kinda cool but said he really couldn't help me, BUT did give the referral to the pain center. I had to wait almost 2 months for the appoitment, well now I can see why . . . the guy doesn't just blow smoke you know where. Do you know that I was the ONLY patient in there during my appointment time. No bouncing back and forth between examination rooms? I'm still blown away!

AND the dude takes my insurance!!! I have a $500.00 deductible but man who cares at this point, ya'know?

I am so pleased that you "guys" are happy for me. It means the world to me.

    Love,

    Lolee

That is great new lolee, I wish all doctors were so thorough and good.

I wish mine was, that is for sure, I had to do it all alone.

Good luck , let us know too if he was right about pinched nerves

LOLEE... this past summer I went to a "pain specialist"... she spent about an hour with me... then proceeded to tell me how some doctors don't believe FM exists!!

Then she went on to tell me to try...yogi, TM, talking with a psycologist, biofeedback.... etc. BUT ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN MEDS!!!

She basically blew me off like it was...."ALL IN YOUR HEAD"!! I even asked if she would "contract" with me for just 5 or 10 vicodin in a two to three month period.. NOT!!

And my pcp won't rx anything stronger than Ultram!! My pcp won't give me any vicodin either.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE?? I THINK I WILL FLY THERE AND SEE YOUR DOCTOR...HA HA HA

I live in California... the San Jose area. It is soooooo hard to find any doctors here with sympathetic ears!! And I have seen 6 or 7 doctors... they are all afraid to rx drugs!! They just look at you like you are a drug-seeking freak!! And from what I read here on this board, I am not the only one who has gone through years of frustration trying to get a doctor to listen and rx pain meds.

Consider youself very lucky to have found this doctor! Thanks for sharing the good news with us all!!

    Blessings to you Lolee! CarolK

I am lucky to have a wonderful doctor who understands pain. She is my family doctor and I thank God everyday for her. She never makes me feel like a drug seeker. She respects my pain and is very good at keeping me properly medicated. My pain is very well controlled. I have some bad days but the good far out number the bad. I have a life back because of her. Im so glad for you. In time when you find the right dose and also other methods to reduce pain , your life will be yours again. God Bless

Fantastic!! I am so happy that you found a pain doc that will work with you on your pain. As you know, this is rare!!

Read you bio and saw the beautiful kittens and puppy. What type of kittens are they -- a Himalayian, a Persian, and a ?

Did I guess correctly? I have a Himalayian just like the white one with the black face that just turned a year old this month. Boy, is she mean! You can't pet or hold her, and she bites!!! Just wondered if yours was like that. My daughter has a calico Persian who is a "lap cat" and so loveable!!

    Lolee,
I'm so glad you found someone that could help you. Finding the right Dr. is sometimes a very hard thing to do. I went to about 8 before I found mine. And I have to say that he is one of the best! He has pulled me through this and I'm doing great. I'm no longer on strong pain killers. He is a firm believer in sleep and stretching. He always takes the time to ask about how things are going with my family (he knows they are not supportive) and he looks after me very good. Before I leave he always hugs me and tells me that he's going to take care of me. I don't guess you'd call my case a miracle but when you go from being a shut in because of the pain and inmobility to living an almost normal life.....it is to me. And it would not have happened if it hadn't been for my Dr. I will always have to fight this, but he made me believe that I can do it. So I say congratulations on your find and I wish you the very best.

HOney, I am so happy for you.

You know, I see a pain med guy, and have neck, lumbar, thoracic, and pelvic problems due to FM and a fall.

I only get blocks and injectins. NO PAIN MEDS, ALTHOUGH I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING.

The time he spent is unprecedented. Grab hold of that man and tie yourself to him.

I am getting ready to dump my pain Dr. I live in Northern Virginia, no Dr to be found yet. These ultracets are useless, plus they carry more side effects than I need.

Please tell us where you live? Or ask your Dr if he knows perhaps a network of Dr.s who believe this pain and FMS exist?

You are indeed very lucky, you'll probably recover quickly now, and be productive. Congrats to you! I am happy and sad at the same time!

EDIT, NEVERMIND, I see you're in California

I too recently seen a new Pain doc, I was going to one clinic that made me feel frustrated & as if I am seeking drugs. This new doc spent close to an hour & a half with me & gave me meds that no other doc would even consider giving me. I also have a protruding disc at c-6 & herniated discs at L-4&5, plus the FM & Myofacial Pain Syndrome. Every Dr I have seen in the past 5 years told me that there is no reason I should have all the pain I say I do!!

This Dr has been a pure blessing to me! My outlook is so much more positive & I feel wonderful for the first time in years! I am getting injections in my spine for the discs, I'm not real sure about surgery, it may help, or it may not. So I'm going with the injections & thats working out pretty well.

I am SO HAPPY for you!!! :) These pain Docs that are so understanding & listen to you & do everything possible to pin-point where exactley the pain is coming from are HEAVEN SENT!!!!

I wish you the best & Congratulations!!!! :)

That is GREAT GREAT GREAT news! How wonderful that they spent that kind of time with you, and validated your pain! And not only dealt with your pain, but searched for REASONS for it. How good it will be if they can treat any cervical and lumbar problems and get rid of a lot of pain.

I am so encouraged that there are good pain docs out there. And to find one that trusts you to treat your own pain, that is special indeed!

I hope you continue to have fantastic visits!

I am so touched by such a response!!!!

I don't know if we are allowed to even give out names . . . but I can tell you that his ad in the yellow pages specifically mentions FM . . . .

    God is good!

    Love,

    Lolee
  16. How wonderful to find a kind, caring dr. who cares!
I looked but Ca. is too far from me. My rheum. gave me 30 vicodin and told me to promise to take only 2 a MONTH! I did, so I could get some relief, but what a joke. And no I didn't type it wrong, he said ONLY 2 pills a MONTH!
    I am happy for you.

The first thing I did was to look where you live to see if he might take me on but I live in FL. Oh well.

Maybe I'll find a clone or maybe he has a brother?

My first pain doctor I went to - spent $300 for a 5 minute talk - he told me to lose weight and exercise. He said that he exercised even if he didn't feel like it = I could do that too!! I cried all the way home. He didn't give me anything and talked down to me.

Next pain doctor - great. Started me on Ultracet and an older NSAID - I feel a lot better. I'm starting Myers cocktail IVs next week for 6 weeks (basically a lot of vitamins) and he BELIEVES me about my pain. He also takes his time with me and is kind.

Waiting room for an hour and a half only to learn that they would not treat me because of my FB. My old doctor moved and this was one of several that are in my insurance plan. I was so mad I was ready to eat someone’s ###. I was waiting to see if they were going to try and charge me for an office visit, I only wanted flu shot. I have found another one in this DDDD plan that is supposed to know something about FM, I sure as H@#$^ hope so. This up and down weather is killing me, my whole body is on fire, my hands are hurt so bad that it is pure H&** to even brush my teeth. Just hope this new doctor really knows something about FM because I’ve been off of any pain meds for almost four full weeks. But I am getting rushed in as well; my appointment is the 13th of February. Happy days
