Juicing Brought My Fever to Normal Why?

    Hi All,

I am not certain this isn't a temporary coincidence - but as soon as I started to juice again ( I had quit for over a year) my 11 mo fever went down to normal 98.6. Now I have other times it went to normal for up to a week...

But could juice bring a fever down to normal? Is it the folate in the juice.

My juice ingredients the last few days are:

    Carrots
    Celery
    Cucumber
    Lots of Romaine lettuce
    parsley
grapes or a slice of apple

Also my fast or elevated heart rate is also down 10 points of so...

    Any and all ideas welcome.

My fever began 1 mo after I started B12 shots - if that helps...especially for methylation experts.

    God Bless,

    Elisabeth

    Hi, Elisabeth.

I don't know the answer to this, but I'm very happy to hear that the fever and tachycardia have calmed down. I certainly hope it continues. You have suffered with these for a long time!

I can only suppose that you were deficient in one or more of the nutrients that are present in the juice. It's really hard to say which one or ones, though potassium might be a possibility. I know that it is important for control of the heart beat, and there is a lot of it in the vegetables and fruit you are juicing. I don't know of a connection to fever, though. As you probably know, fever is controlled by the hypothalamus, normally in response to cytokines that the immune system produces in response to infection. Maybe the hypothalamus was deficient in something that is in the juice, or maybe the juice has helped your immune system to knock down an infection. I'm just guessing here!

Again, I hope these benefits continue!

    Hi Elizabeth
I'm really happy to read that juicing appears to have helped reduce your fever. I felt for you, suffering so long dealing with it.

I do hope it continues to help. I'm sure there must be something on the internet that explains which fruits/vegetables might help with fevers.

I think I vaguely remeber something on the benefits of different fruit / veg was posted here. If I find it I'll bump it.

    Take care
    Best wishes

    Hi Elizabeth
I couldn't find the post I was referring to. I had saved the following on the general benefits of foods but couldn't see anything about a fever in there.

Thought I would post it anyway as it may interest you.I can't remember where I got it from - it may have been posted on this board.

Sorry about the format but it hasn't transferred that well.

    Best wishes

Dopamine has been used to help some recover from vector borne illness. Manganese is required to activate dopamine. Some sources of Manganese are green leafy vegatables. My body temperature has completely normalized through the use of a supplement containing a high amount of food based manganese.

Many nutritionist attribute joint pain, inflammation, arthritis, bursitis, dermatitis, and many diseases including Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, diabetes, and epilepsy to manganese deficiency.

    Hi Rich,

Always great to hear from you - thanks so much for the kind words and support!

I found an interesting pub on romaine lettuce - thought you might find it interesting too...

Folic acid compounds in romaine lettuce.
Batra KK, Wagner JR, Stokstad EL.

The composition of folate coenzymes in romaine lettuce was studied. Lettuce extract was purified on QAE-Sephadex A-25 and folate compounds were separated into a monoglutamate fraction and a polyglutamate fraction by chromatography on Sephadex G-15. Both the mono- and poly-glutamate fractions were resolved on DEAE-cellulose. Positive identification of DEAE peaks was made by further cochromatography with high specific activity radioactive marker folate compounds and with differential microbiological assay. The distribution of folate compounds in lettuce is as follows: 32% 5-CH3-H4PteGlu; 1% 5-CHO-H4PteGlu; 3% 5-CHO-H4PteGlu4; 9% 5-CH3-H4PteGlu4; 13% 5-CHO-H4PteGlu5; and 31% 5-CH3-H4PteGlu5.

PMID: 407992 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

The highest % is the folate in Folapro - am I right? I hope so...

Anyway, the potassium may be an issue too being that everyone (doc-wise) kept telling me to up my salt and water...

I hope this holds...it has been a long and hard road - and I would be so grateful for a clue as to what might work for me!

    God Bless You Rich,

    Elisabeth

    Hi!!!

I am thrilled for you!!! I know you have suffered with this fever too long. I can't imagine how happy you feel to be free of this.

I am definitely going to try this... I still have the fever and tachycardia. I am taking heavy duty anti-virals with no success yet.

Thanks for posting this and letting us all know. I wish you the best and am so happy for you...

    Take care, Cindy

I am SO happy for you, Elisa!!!!

Did you stop taking the B12 shots after your fever began?

When I took too much B12 for me, I detoxed too quickly, and the symptoms of my too-rapid detox included a fever and a pounding heart.

That's great to know that so many vegetables contain folate and potassium. I'm headed off to the juice bar!

    Love,
