Hi everyone, I am a 29 yr old female, got into a serious car accident last July and my pain keeps on getting worse. I still have all the injuies of the car accident(myofacial pain). I am doing all the proper things. I'm doing everything the Dr's, phisio, occupational therapist, specialist, phycologist. I'm doing everthing they tell me to do. I also just got diagnosed with FMS and CFS because of the accident. I have to walk with a cane because my whole body is sceaming with pain. I'm also on the duragesic 100 patch every 48 hrs and 20mg oxys every 4 hours and my pain is still an 8 out of 10.
I know everyone is different but everyone on here seems to know whats going on, any tips you can give me to feel a little better and will the FMS and CFS settle down eventually. I've talked to people in my swimming with FMS and they have had it for more than 20 yrs. I want to know of the chances of all of this going to go away because I'm still young or am I just going to except this as part of my life. Nothing has changed one bit and like I said I am getting worse. I can't even sleep because the pain is so bad and I get severe muscle spasms all through the day and night. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?? I know your not drs but I bet alot of you know what I'm talking about!!!

hi, i also got my fibro as a result of an auto accident. i've had it for 15 yrs.
yes, it will eventually calm down.
when you are in a flare, which is what it sounds like, try to get as much rest as possible. your muscles need to recuperate.
pushing too hard will only injure your muscles more.
for the muscle cramps and spasms, try tonic water. it has quinine in it and that is used for muscle cramps. also, eat bananas. your potassium may be on the low side.
only do gentle stretches. if you have myofacil involvement, just remember, you can't strenthen a muscle with myofascia involvement. doesn't work, and only makes it worse.
water exercises are good, cause it takes pressure off your skeleton.
i take 5 htp at night to help me sleep. it usually works. not tonight though, hubby's snoring again. lol

Many people here got this DD after accident or surgery or virus.

I think that maybe the virus settles in when one is having the surgery or bones healing etc.

I am sorry you have this. I get flares, so I get some better months.

I hope yours is not permanent.

I heard this great thing today. With this DD you look at life as you would a bank account. Draw out on your good days, save on your bad ones. I think that when we have to rest we just have to.

Some people here spend a lot of time in bed others work full time. Some use meds others don't.

Tip: For more answers go back to edit line on your post and break your letter into paragraphs as some here cannot read more than three or four lines at a time.

Say what route appeals to you and you will get a ton of suggestions.
