I just returned from my appt. with a Sleep doctor. He was so nice! I was scared he would not believe me problems with FMS and RLS. But he was wonderful! He asked me a lot of questions about my sleep and medications. We discussed fibromyalgia and he said he knows that most people with FMS have sleep problems. He thinks my problem has a couple of components - my quality of sleep is poor and that's why I get so tired during the day; he wants to find out if I have sleep apnea; he wants to test my iron - if your iron is too high it could affect your sleep. He said I should have a sleep study and they'll set that up for me next week. He also said that taking the Neurontin was good, and that after the sleep study he'll be able to tell what meds I should be taking to help with the sleep problems. He was so nice and so friendly and made me feel so good! I am in so much pain today and so tired, but at least the visit was a very positive one! I just had to share this with you all!!!!

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The only hard part was being made to wake up at 5 am, which is the middle of the night to me (I am a night owl).
Good luck to you and I hope you get some answers.

I don't know anything about the CPAP thing. I do know the doctor said there are a few ways to treat a sleep disorder. He mentioned that CPAP thing, as well as surgery or medication. I definitely would not want surgery. I'm much more comfortable with medication. I do take Neurontin right now. I guess I won't know anything until I have the sleep study and they can determine what is actually going on.

    Hi !!!
I had two sleep studys done in Feb and March and I have sleep apnea......any form of sleep apnea is dangerous and bad.
surgery is out of the question for me !!!
I opted for the CPAP and got it April 5 and did not have luck with it.....I felt I could not adapt to it and had mask problems and on and on and on .... I was quite negative with it. I even moved it into my 3rd bedroom for storage......lol.....
I got sicker and more tired and finally went to another specialist for FM etc and he re-instated the thoughts that I HAVE TO USE IT........so...........two weeks ago I moved it BACK to the bedroom and am using it faithfully and my-oh-my what a better difference in me !!!! I wake feeling rested ........dont get me wrong.... I still have medical problems but this is definately helping the nerve damage and muscle weakness and all that !!! If you dont get the right sleep your muscles dont rest and repair...
    Good luck.......
