Ken - Munros

    Hi Ken

    'A Munro' is the name given to any mountain in Scotland over 3,000 feet. There are 277 or 278 of them.

    People go out to bag as many Munros as possible......

    You were very lucky not to get eaten alive by midgies in Skye - they are horrid little creatures, so tiny you can hardly see them but they come in swarms and give nasty bites.

    We have them in our garden but they are so much worse up north.

    I've read about Munros a number of times, but forgot what they were.

    In Colorado, there are 54 peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation, called "Fourteeners." Back when I was healthy, I was working on "bagging" them. I'm proud to say I climbed 27 of them. If I lived in Scotland, I would have loved to bag Munros.
