My profile has a pic of the last carving I will be doing before Christmas. I have a few ornaments left to paint, but no more carving until all the Christmas stuff is put away.

I made this one for one of the gals here at work who has an apple orchard. He is a "shelf sitter" (easier to say "shelf elf!") and his feet dangle from little screw eyes.

I hope to have a pic back from a friend who took a pic of my three Red Hat snowladies at our Red Hat Christmas party. If I get it I will post it sometime after Christmas.

It looks kind of old, like something made in the middle ages.

Do you sell your figures?? You have a great talent.

    A very fine shelf elf,
    if I say so myself.
    And carved out of wood,
    that is quite good.

Thank you all for your kind words.

    Kholmes - Loved the poem!!

This particular carving took probably 8 to 10 hours to carve and an hour or two to paint.

I usually wait to paint until I have several pieces carved and ready. That way when a color is drying on one I can be painting on another. Saves a lot of waiting time!

I love the little boots, too, and plan to do more shelf elfs this coming year.
