We're hearing a lot about honesty these days in our campaigns and debates. A good topic for songs? How about any song title or lyric that has Honest or any form of the word; Truth or Untruths; Good or Bad; Right or Wrong; Vanity, Apologies, Promises.

    Very Timely, GB

The first one is a song and dance number from Royal Wedding.
The performers were Fred Astaire and Jane Powell. (Saw Jane on stage
twice. Met her backstage once.) Jane replaced Judy Garland who was too
sick to work. That was the end of the Judy-MGM years.

How could you believe me when I said I love you
When you know I've been a liar all my life

True Love, from High Society with Bing and Grace (well, her dubber).

Always True To You In My Fashion from Kiss Me Kate by Cole Porter.

Whether I'm Right, Or Whether I'm Wrong, I've Gotta Be Me.

Good Morning from Singing In The Rain, Sung and danced by Gene Kelly,
Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds. If they gave an Oscar for a
cheerful greeting to the day, this would have won.

It's a Good Day for Singing a Song

Time for me to be movin' along.

Good ones Rock. It looks like the line-up for TCM movie night! I just saw High Society tonight and Singing in the Rain a few months ago. (I thought that was Grace Kelly's voice, was it Marni again?) GB

Hi GB, I watched a big chunk of High Society a year or two ago. Found it just
so-so. Never could stand Frank Sinatra and his raspy voice. Celeste Holm was
in it. I saw her live in Las Vegas as Mame back in '68.

I think Grace Kelly's voice was dubbed. Mainly because that's the only time
I've ever heard of her singing. Generally people who can really sing, do so.
And it's been a subject of conjecture and speculation for 60 years.

Saw Marilyn Monroe singing Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend recently. The
dubbing is really obvious in that film. The high voice at the beginning of the
song is clearly not Marilyn's husky whisper. But Marilyn did sing the
    rest of the song.

I read Marnie Nixon's bio. She discussed her dubbing work with a good deal
of detail and was very pleased with the results. I also used to have some
records of her singing the Mary Poppins songs, Gershwin, and music by
her husband Ernest Gold who won an Oscar for his song Exodus.

I read several times that the busiest dubber in Hollywood was Martha
Mears who did a lot of work on the radio. You can read about her on
the net and listen to her on Youtube. She dubbed voices in some 30-
    50 movies.

High Society was not even a fraction as good as Philadelphia Story. No one can equal Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant or Katharine Hepburn.

I looked it up online and it says Grace Kelly and Bing Crosby's record of True Love was the first and only gold record for Grace Kelly. I had that record on a 45rpm. Can't remember what was on side B. GB

You're So Right For Me, from the musical Oh, Captain by Livingston
and Evans, 1950s. The star was Tony Randall. Sings better than
some other musical stars such as Richard Burton and Rex Harrison.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Music by the Italian composer
Ennio Morricone who wrote the scores for numerous movies.

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad. One of Billy Sherrill's songs written
    for Tammy Wynette.

I have a song to post -- it does not reflect my political views, etc.

I just laughed to myself, when I remembered the title of the song:

GB, if the videos/pics, etc. are still messing with your computer, let me know, and I won't post any more videos.

Rock, I loved that one -- The Good The Bad & The Ugly! LOL

I hope I have not offended anyone, and if I did I apologize. I'll remove this post, if you ask me to do so.

    Hugs, Diane

Diane, Not sure why Liar, Liar should offend anyone. There seems to be lots of misinformation going around these days, unfortunately. :)

Please, don't stop posting videos! I can use my 'alternate' computer to view them. I'm going to have to start using the new one all the time anyway. Just need to make myself try to get used to the change.

This one is so bad that I can't even play any of the videos of my 'kids' on FB. Now, that is just unacceptable! GB

Diane, how could anyone be offended by the Castaways? Couldn't understand
a word they sang. Never heard of 'em before. Looked 'em up. Turns out
they are from the Twin Cities: Minneapolis/St Paul. Uff-da!

Glad you feel up to posting. Kevin better too?

GB, hope you and your new computer can form some sort of detente.

Can't sleep so am amusing myself with everyone's posts.
    Appreciate it.

I met a bloke once who non stop lied.
Haven't met anyone even remotely like him since.
Scary thing is, I think he believed his own rubbish!
    Anyway, the song -
    ' you're unbelievable!'
Generates memories of him, for me, but I can't for the life of me remember who sang it!
    A 90's song I think-

    Sad, but a contribution none-the-less

Hi Star, good to hear from you. I don't know the song, but Youtube has
several vidoes of "You're Unbelievable" and "Unbelievable". Same song?

As the politicians say, "All contributions cheerfully accepted. Is there
anything I can do for you?"

    Good Night, Sweetheart
Good Golly, Miss Molly (Little Richard)
    Good King Wenceslas

    Good Night, Irene
