    I MEAN IT!

    i AM SO MAD RIGHT NOW.

    AFTER READING EZBRUZER'S POST. AND MY OWN EXPERIENCES.

    C.F.S. AND F.M. ARE REAL DISORDERS. DOCTORS SHOULD NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUST DECIDE THEY PERSONALLY DO NOT BELIEVE IN THEM.

    I THINK WE SHOULD START WRITING LETTERS TO THE ...WHAT'S IT CALLED...YOU KNOW, GOVERNING BODIES OF THESE DOCTORS. i think Doc's who dismiss these illness need to be given a wake up call and should be..I can't think of the correct word, but you will think of it, means penalized or warned or punished but in a mild way. If these diseases are defined and in the medical texts, then the doctors are supposed to be aware of them and not dismissing them, right?

    I am crying right now. So upset for Lisa, for me [my recent call to a psychiatrist, she says treatment for CFS is "you must go back to work" It's the cutting edge treatment, so if you are not working she won't see you, I've had other docs tell me they don't believe in CFS] and mostly for all of us, I've read your stories about your doctors.

    Please people, if you can, start writing the gov't reps and the medical governing boards.

    It may just start to make a difference.

    Don't you think it's time we started reporting these docs and turning the tables????

    I am so sorry your are in such pain. It is very very frustrating when you are dealing with this stuff and then fighting for some type of support. I'm not sure how far one could get with the AMA. I'm not saying don't rally the troops. I believe that FM and CF are still considered syndromes, which means that many will not buy into the condition. My doctor thinks my FM is something else due to my positive ANA and other positive labs. I don't talk about it and she treats my symptoms the best she can and we check labs 4x a year. I don't know what I believe and I do know my symptoms are real. It would be great if docs could just say that they didn't treat FM or CF because they didn't know enough about it...and that would be too honest. Instead, the interaction becomes abusive. Maybe to complaints could focus around the abuse in what is suppose to be a healing environment. It's the abuse that's completely unacceptable IMHO.

    Hang in there and keep us posted...Jan

    If docs does absolutely nothing in the face of symptoms like Lisa's, I don't believe they ought to be paid. I also believe we ought to file complaints with our insurance companies and medical societies. Patients are entitled to better care than this.

    Also, if we don't have a good doc, we need to ask for recommendations here or check the good doc list. My new specialist is soooo good that I would be happy to tell people about him.

    Well yes some how we need to stop being abused by the few ignorant a#*&*es out there! Today- I was asked during "EXAM" if I was single or involved. I told him single. He said I need to get touched more then I wouldn't be so sensitive ,as i needed to HEAR those words!many other issues,just wanted to say thanks for feeling my frustration---I am still empty and trying to prevent a Manic reaction is becoming cumbersome.You've helped w/your post. Thanx, lisa

    That made me laugh!! Good one.

    Reminds me of one of my favourite parts to The Lion King. The little lion is talking to the monkey shaman, saying, Oh, what does it matter, it's in the past {an issue I have with my mother, we never clear up stuff from the past because we don't talk about it...because, as she says...oh, that's in the past...!!!!!!!!}

    So the monkey shaman bonks the little lion on the head, really hard with his stick!

    The little lion says: "Ow!! What did you do that for????"

    The monkey says: "What does it matter? It's in the past."

    I love it.

    Let's start giving it to these docs. Things have got to change if we want the suffering to improve.

    Try to hang in there Lisa.

    I do find, that being a single woman of our age makes us a bit of a target sometimes.

    and not only from doctors.

    My neighbours wouldn't have given me half the problems they did if I had a strong man living with me. I definitely noticed a difference when I had a man visit me on a regular basis.

    I think a part of it is that if we are single at our age, there is a mindset that there must be something wrong with us and therefore most of our problems are mental,even when we have very real physical problems.

    Know what I mean?

    Hold on. Things might get better.

    About needing to be touched borders on improper advances by a doc. This guy sounds like a nut case to me.

    I just posted something simular the other day~ You might be able to find it??? I think it was titled ...How do you go about getting pain meds??....something like that`
    Anyway,I feel for every damn one of us that have to beg for relief!!!or we're made to feel that our pain is mild or toterable!!! Mine is not!!and has'nt been treated right for many,many years! In the very beginning of my illness I was given Darvecet for pain.Well for someone who never took meds in her life up to that point,they worked for me~(thankk you!! bless you...I'm not worthy!!LOL) but come on ...!They worked then not now!I'm sitting here now after taking 2 and half darvecet feeling"No buzz" like some think you get!! and i'm still hurting like hell!! my neck is stiff,if i turn my head I get sharp pains into my upper back and shoulders!!!my legs ache,need I go on?! I'm pissed to no end!!!I must admit that I feel envious of other members here that have the Drs and the relief they so deserve!! Recall back to when your pain was'nt being treated.......I'm miserable,and snappy with my kids,I feel like I shpould be in a nursing home!!!(mind you I'm a fresh 40 yr old!!LOL) I can laugh still but its tough~
    I agree with turning thses Drs. in!!!and that WILL be my next step!! if something good does'nt come of my next appointment....I will turn her in for inadaquate pain relief for documented chronic painful conditions!!! Can somebody tell me right off where I should make my call.
    I do have a friend that became a pysicians assistant a few yrs ago.He has the ability to write scripts....but he is not my dr. and I would never put him in spot where he could lose his practicing license!!! but I surely could ask him how to go about turning someone in!! This is inhumane!! this is not legal....not in my book! sorry for the vent jen and everyone~ I just need some help is all~ As many of you already know,I've had this sh*t for 11 years!! my patience is wearing thin......no! I have'nt any left! Anyone know where to call to get someones heart beating faster.....like panic~ Thanks for letting me air this out again. Have a good eve :)

    Hopefully someone will help give you advice on where to call. Here in Canada I think it's the College of Physicians and Surgeons for our province. For Americans I'm not sure, but I would guess maybe the AMA would be a start?

    But, I am thinking a letter might be a better and more formal way of filing a complaint. Of course, be prepared for your doc to see that letter and know you have filed a complaint, so for those who are desperate for care and need to keep their doc for now, that plan might not be advisable for them, but if you can get another doc, I think a WRITTEN letter to your local gov't representative and/or to the doctor governing board would be best and get more notice than a phone call. But, hey a phone call is better than nothing which is what most of us are doing so far.

    It's time we take some of the power back.

    Good for you Tandy!

    I will aggresivlly pursue all avenues.The AMA needs a Public Voice site that real people can post real ratings.I have worked w/J.D Power & Associates Pre DD developing Intended Expectations/Vs.un pleasurable experience in a variety of fields. People in small rual areas all across North America are suffering endlessly and in many areas limited to medical resources. After today I want to make sure Many less people suffer 'cause a ignorance! You all are so increadable! lisa :) {{{{{{{{{{hug to all}}}}}}}}}}

    GOOD IDEA !!!!!! BUT THERE IS ANOTHER SYNDROME I HAVE'NT SEEN BROUGHT UP..... I CALL IT THE " GOD SYNDROME " ..... FROM WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED , QUITE A FEW DRS. HAVE IT. 1ST DR. I WENT TO , DID'NT BELIEVE CFIDS IS REAL.... ANOTHER DR. I WENT TO STATED " YOU CAN'T HAVE IT....IT IS A FEMALE "MENTAL CONDITION "..... I ALMOST HIT HIM... GLAD I DID'NT.....PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HURT ME MORE THAN HIM....NEVER WENT BACK TO THAT QUACK !!!!!!! SOME DRS. BELIEVE THE SLEEP PROBLEMS CAUSE THIS DISEASE NOT VISA/VERSA. OTHER DRS. BELIEVE THEY CAN CURE YOU & WHEN YOU DO'NT RESPOND TO THEIR TREATMENTS.... IT HURTS THEIR "AVERAGE". AND STILL OTHERS DON'T UNDERSTAND DEPLETED RESOURCES ($).... WHERE I LIVE , THERE IS LITTLE HELP WITH THIS DISEASE. I CAN TESTIFY HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FIGHT IT ALONE. IF I WAS'NT SO TIRED, SORE ,BRAIN FOGGED, ETC. , I MIGHT HAVE GONE "POSTAL". SORRY , JUST HAD TO VENT A BIT. BLESSINGS TO ALL & TAKE CARE !!!!!!! BILLCAMO.
