After 12 years of dehabilitating symptoms I'm finally realizing that I probably have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I've seen ENT specialists for ear ringing and dizziness, rheumatoligists for joint pain and fatigue, psychiatrists for brain fog, and neurologists for various other wierd seizure like sensations. No great help or diagnosis in any of these places. I would like to find a physician and/or holistic practitioner in my area (Minneapolis, MN) who has experience and success in treating cfs. Any ideas out there?? I would also be willing to travel in order to get good help. It's time... I so appreciate the advice. Barbara

I am new to this site also, so please excuse any mistakes. I live in Mn. and have had no luck so far searching for a doctor. However, I just found a site that offers a list of physicians that "expressed interest in treating people with cfs/fm in Mn" I sent for the list just this morning and will let you know if and when they reply, or let you know if I don't hear from them. I take it you are not supposed to post website addresses here so I'll reply again to this message, if I can figure out how!

Maybe between the two of us we can find a real doctor in this state! I hope to hear from that website tomorrow or Tues. and will let you know as soon as I do.
    Talk to you then,

I've been checking my email frequently today but no reply yet from the chronic fatigue and fibromylagia website that said they would provide a list of doctors in Minnesota that would see people with those problems. I'm just hoping that maybe they are backlogged from the weekend, and will let you know if I hear anything. I think I'll ask the moderators if it's ok to post doctors names here on the message board or not, as I did find one doctor's name as a possibility by searching the net. I'll get back to you soon.

I'm not from MN (I'm from ID) but I spent 3-4 weeks in St Cloud several years ago living with my aunt/uncle and seeing a dr in Coon Rapids, MN (just north of Minneapolis) who had given tremendous help to my cousins. I believe his name is Dr Gustafson--but it's been a while and that might not be correct. If it's wrong, I'm sorry. Anyway, he's very holistic/alternative. He "talks" to your body and it tells him what you need. A little strange for me, but at the time I was coming off some very big personal issues, and I didn't have the time/money to spend a great deal of time in MN. I also really didn't have the mental energy, if that makes sense.
Anyway, hope this helps. I know it's a little vague, but good luck in your search!!

    to my minnesota sisters,
A friend of a friend who has cfs said that she has had good luck with a doctor here in the Twin Cities and a nutritionist. I'm waiting to get the names and numbers and will pass it on to you when I do.
I also left a message at the MN chapter of cf and have not heard back yet. Trusting the timing... Barbara

Here is the name of the recommended dr and nutritionist. The woman that passed them on to me couldn't say enough good things about both of them.
Dr. Stephen Obaid Edina 952 920 2070 (I got an appt in Sept-that's something...)
Darlene Qvist St Paul 651 699 3438 (nutrition consultations and classes-she says they have helped a lot)

The other person that I keep hearing about is Warren King. He is more of a holistic practitioner. He has a waiting list of over 100 people, but it doesn't hurt to get on the list. I have seen people that have felt unwell for years, greatly improve with his diet/supplement suggestions. 952 930 3575. He also has a website with diet suggestions and his philosophy. warrenking.com

Good luck and let's keep each other informed of our progress. love and blessings, Barbara

I wrote down the names and numbers that you included in the posts, and have also found one possibility..a Dr. Byron Holth that practices at the Allina Medical Clinic, 11269 Jefferson Highway,Champlin,Mn 55316, 763-427-9620 UPDATE NOTE*******I contacted this clinic the last of July and Dr. Holth is NOT accepting any more FM/CFIDS patients.
I called them and he does see patients with our problems..I can't see him yet until I see my doctor and get a referral from him. It also sounded like there could be a lengthy wait to see him, but these are the first doctors I have heard of in this state that might have some knowledge on the subject! We definitely have to keep each other up to date on what happens. Barbara, it sounds like you'll most likely see a doctor first, so I hope you will post what happens, and what the doctor is like.
I haven't heard anything yet from the doctor site that I emailed on Sunday...I emailed them again today, I'll let you know if I ever hear anything from them.
    Thanks again so much,
    Best wishes,
    Sandy J.
I just looked for Dr. William Gustafson,Coon Rapids..he is a chiropractor that practices "holodynamic kinesiology"...seems to be a method of "asking the muscles of the body what they need" Don't quite know what to make of that one, I think I'll post that and see if anyone has any experience with it.[This Message was Edited on 07/22/2003]

hey its addressed to SjVa but anyway the other message is more lengthy in my experience with him and since im still looking you can imagine why..lol...

well anyway i did talk to someone about alfred anderson and i know that he is very good but the first appt is about 400 dollars ..which i cant afford and insurance will reimburse you(they dont do insurance billing) then appts are only i think 80.00 but he is a pain specialist and ive heard from 2 people that he was really nice and understanding and as soon as i get the money to see him that is where im going first..so if you can afford it see him..

So sorry, I didn't see this message till now! Have you seen the dr. Anderson that you mentioned yet? I called dr. Holth and they told me he isn't seeing any more patients with FM or chronic fatigue...the same happened when I called dr. Deye in Cambridge...no longer accepting patients with those problems. I never thought to do a search on Holth, I'll check it out after this message. Keep in touch here and let me know if you have any luck.
