Welcome to Lounge 140.
I just wanted to mention to you, in case you or anyone else is interested that I just started a new thread for Soup recipes Crokc Pot or whatever. I'm into Crock Pot right now but regular soups are fine to as they cusually can be changed by adding more water if converting to regular pot.
Julie, over on the Porch asked for the latest recipe for Crock Pot Sausage and Bean Chowder. The amounts can be easily changed once checking on the to see how soupy it is or not . Can add more liquid or veggies, beans or whatever else depending on the type of soup.
I started a new thread so it would be easier to find and print if anyone wants it. If you or anyone else wants to add another soup to this thread, that would be great.
I will let you know how things turn out as I make them. The Split Pea recipe is on the Porch thread (not this one but the one before towards the end). It may be Volume 603. That was really delicious and if you need to thin it just add water or broth.
How's your weather Diane? Any snow yet? Had to go to a memorial service this morning it was cloudy and windy and fairly warm. Tomorrow it is supposed to get colder and rain. It is supposed to be in the 20's and 30's in the evening overnight I think and 40's during the day for 3-4 days , if I remember correctly. Have to go out tomorrow to church but that is all. Hope it isn't to bad and raining hard.
Freida - Hope you are doing OK and it isn't to awful out for you too although I know you donpt go out much but your DHuz does. Stoll snowing? I think you mentioned it the other day.
Mikie - get better please and everyone hope you are all doing OK this weekend.
For anyone I havaen't mentioned please forgive- Barry , Jole, Pam, etc..
I just posted and my computer decided to update and shut down. I lost it all. Arrrrrg! I'm sorry I haven't been around much. Between being exhausted, trying to clean up the mess I have here in the condo, and socializing with the neighbors who have arrived, I have been busy when not sleeping.
Diane, thanks for opening a new Lounge. I don't think I can go back to catch up so will just start new here. It's funny because we call the shady area on the balcony, The Lounge. It's where the big tree shades the balcony in the afternoon. We sit there to have a drink or just chat in the shade. The tree has been losing leaves since blooming but there is new growth coming out. It looks a bit sparce right now.
Granni, I think your idea for posting recipes is wonderful. If I had some energy, I'd cook a little bit. Maybe when I get some things done and feel better. I think anytime we have an infection, it makes us tired. I imagine the same holds true with a fungal infection.
I had cleaned out some foliage in the stairwell atrium and my exposed skin started to burn and itch so I think I know what caused the fungal infection on my face. I need to stay away from the plants. Some have mold on the leaves from our rainy summer. The rash on my face is much improved but it takes forever, according to the doc, for this kind of fungal rash to clear up and it can come back. Yikes!
Watched the Broncos last night and was disgusted with them. They totally mismanaged the ball and the clock and had to punt while there was still enough time for the Ravens to score, which they did. Then, they lost in overtime. They should have won but they didn't deserve to. Same old Broncos. Good news is that my adopted team, the Patriots, will play today so maybe I'll still have a team in the fight.
I've been waking at 4:30 and take Simon's breakfast out to him. I usually fall asleep early in the evening so, I guess, all in all, I'm getting enough hours of sleep. Barb woke at 3:00 (none of us old people in here sleep well) the other morning and saw Simon sleeping on the top step of the stairs. I looked out the blind this morning before I turned on the kitchen light and sho 'nuff, there he was, stretched out along the step.
I had planned on going back to bed but when I opened the door to put the food out, Tweety ran in. She doesn't like it when I go to bed and don't pay attention to her and she gets up on one of my night table with delicate things on it. Might as well get up. She and Sylvester haven't been around as much because we have a new puppy in the bldg. They tolerate him but don't want to get up close and personal until he settles down. He's all puppy all over the place. He's a cute little guy. We have new pups and babies in our Fl Family and we spend a lot of time looking at pics and videos.
My DD sent a video of Andy with a piece of spaghetti hanging out of his mough. Nigel got it and pulled it out of Andy's mouth and into his. OMG! Are we a classy family or what Andy skies moguls now so he's surpassed me. Even if I can get to feeling up to skiing and can get to CO, I doubt Andy will want to ski with slow old Grandma. I've been having a lot of pain in my hip and leg since the fall and may have to see the doc. My skiing days may well be over anyway.
Now that some neighbors are here, we are doing some maintenance around the bldg. Frank, downstairs, bless his heart, is always willing to help out. He changed the bulb in our carport. We have two lights which come on with motion sensors. It's usually the cats which set them off. One of our address signs on the carport needs redone and he will do that. New sprinkler man allowed the ground water from the sprinkler system to spray on our electrical box and it has corroded the outside. If we let it continue, it eventually corrodes the breakers inside. We've already had to replace them. Frank will repaint the box and, I think, we'll have to put a sign on it for future sprinkler adjustments. One would think that it would occur to an "expert" in sprinkler systems that it's not safe to let them sprinkle on electrical equipment. Duh!!!
Well, gang, this is what's been consuming my time, certainly nothing exciting. I have managed to put all my DVD's and CD's into three-ring binders. That's an enormous job. I have a lot of them. Mom had some really good tapes and this old stereo has a double deck tape player so I think I'll keep them and try to remember to play them. My car is 10 years old and has a tape deck as well so I could put some in the car. Only thing is that I don't go very far so it hardly pay to play music. I usually catch up on prayers while I'm driving unless someone is with me.
Please, everyone, have a healthy and blessed rest of the weekend.
Glad to see you are out and about - or whatever you call it with everything else you have been doing, besides sleeping. Hope you get your stuff done and feeling better sooner rather than later. Have to get ready for church but wanted to check to see if anyone had checked in today. Try to get and stay well. I know how you feel when you have a fever or whatever, donpt feel like doing much of anything !
I just want to say hello, and let each of you know that I am checking on you, and hanging in here, myself.
I'm feeling pretty awful, the past few days, with worse sleep problems than usual and some other painful added symptoms. It's so hard to figure out which remedies to try, to try to lower the discomforts, and try to get a bit more sleep. My usuals haven't been working. Don't know why.
Maybe I'll stay in nice new jammies and robe, today.
That might be my best "treatment"
to simply try to relax and treat myself gently, while I wait for a better day...and a better night, at some point.
We're having a brief warm-up here, then it will be back to winter.
We still have snowcover and plenty piled up, but it has all shrunk down some, and will shrink some more while it is milder than usual, before we get back to the deep freeze, in a few days, and when get some new fresh snow, at some point. It'll be prettier and lighter, than the dull, dirty stuff leftover now.
I'm not letting huz go out to endless errands and wanderings, for fear of all the contagious stuff out and about, lately.
Not much stamina...just want to let you all know I'm okay and wishing you all a good day!

Good to see you both here.
Granni, thanks for all your sweet good wishes. I send mine to you.
Leah, I also send good wishes that you feel better. I can't think of anything more healing than new jammies and a robe. I am sitting here in my new soft jammie bottoms and a soft tee shirt. Heaven!
Well, the Patriots won! Yea! I was invited next door but stayed home so I could watch the game in bed. My hip was a disaster. After the game, we all went out on our lanais and whooped it up. The Broncos should be made to watch the Patriots' game tape over and over and over until they see how to manage plays, the ball and the clock when one is ahead in the fourth quarter. I have to say, Houston played well but were just over their heads. Denver should have won Sat. but they have a legacy of blowing big games. Bronco fans have a love/hate relationship with them.
I was trying to finish cleaning out and organizing the cabinet under my TV armoire yesterday. As I was squirming around on the floor, one foot got caught just as I was rolling over. My hip popped like nothing I've ever heard or felt. It was so painful, I almost fainted. I think it popped back into place. It was very sore for a while but started to feel better. I put my new, extra large, heating pad on it in bed and that helped. I'll ice it today to see whether that helps.
Yesterday was a big day on the balcony. Barb's DD and DSIL are here. All kinds of neighbors and animals visited. We were out there for hours. The new pup from downstairs gets so excited over all the attention from all his new "aunties" on the balcony. He's going to be a keeper.
Just this year, I told my kids I had to stop sending checks on their birthdays. I felt horrible about it but I'm now in austerity mode so I'll have enough money when I get older. Also, who knows what is going to happen to SS and our economy. A neighbor from across the street was having coffee with me and two other neighbors and we were talking about this very thing. Her grandchildren got together and decided to return her Christmas checks. They told her they loved her and were happy with just a card. We all had tears in our eyes. None of us is "poor" but almost all of us are having to watch what we spend. It's hard on us to stop the giving but, fortunately, our kids understand and none of them really cares about the money anyway. It's love which is important. I'll bet this is going on all over. I love my FL Family because we share a lot of the same issues and we can comfort and support one another, just like my Online Family here.
My love to everyone.
Another brief checking in, from me.
Hi to each one of you!
ugh, I hope that your hip gets better!
Granni, always good to see you here on the lounge, I'm glad you came and joined us.
I'm a wee bit better today than I was yesterday.
That wouldn't be too hard, considering how I was yesterday,
but for me, it's very good, to be even just a little less miserable overall.
I guess yesterday's primary therapies,
of spend the day in jammies and robe,
relax as much as possible, instead of worrying about how long this bad seige will last,
and simply do nothing other than take extreme gentle care of self,
was the right treatment option available.
A bit better is better than the same or a bit worse.
Did I word that in English? LOL
I got dressed today (at about 1pm, but who's looking at that part?)
and combed my hair tangles out.... and um....oh yes, hand-washed one jammie top, so you see, that is better than yesterday.
We're having a January thaw, which we sometimes get for a couple of days. Blue sky, I wish I was outside!
Take care, everyone!

Leah, it's good to read that you are a smidgeon better. I know a smidgeon isn't much but it's better than feeling worse. I'm a "half-full" kind of person. When I've felt so bad I have meditated or visualized myself in God's hand being cradled and protected. Back when I had Mr. Big, my old cat, I would visualize myself small and being cradled up against his warm, soft tummy. I know it sounds crazy but it was a very comforting visualization for me.
I do whatever it takes to take care of myself and try to just get through the bad times. I don't even worry about when I'll feel better; I just want to get through it in as much comfort as possible. I think if we worry about getting better, it just adds to the stress. Sometimes, the smallest little thing will help us persevere until we do get better. I have always eventually gotten better even if only a bit better. I hope you get better and better. Can you get outside when it's nice or are there barriers, like stairs? I think getting outside is one of the best things we can do.
I went to Costco yesterday after the Breakfast Club on the Balcony. I showered and looked halfway decent despite the fact that I still can't wear makeup. I do my eyes and my skin is looking decent enough that I can get by without the makeup. The one little spot of fungus is gone and the bigger one is faded a lot. It's cool out so am waiting just a bit to go out for my second cup. Barb's kids left at 6:00 this morning. I got up at five and Simon wasn't there. The paper was so I figured when the paper guy came, it scared Simon off and he was hiding. The kids' moving in and out might have scared him too. Barb saw him out in his favorite sleeping place earlier. I put his dish down, called him and came inside. When I looked out the poophole, he was eating.
The hip continues to feel better but it's still sore, almost like the soreness one experiences after seeing the chiropractor for an adjustment. I think the cabinet door performed my adjustment. I am very grateful that the hip and leg are better. The area is still sore but when I twist, it doesn't almost go out from under me as it had been doing. It's a lot more stable. If it doesn't continue to improve, I'll have to see the doc. That's my hip with osteopenia.
I still have to crawl under the cabinet to drill four new holes to move the shelf. The manufacturer didn't put enough holes in for the adjustable shelf. I have to be careful not to drill through the side of the cabinet. I will put the drill bit into an existing hole and use nail polish to paint a band around the drill bit. The paint will be my guide for how deep to go. I got some lights at Costco which are WONDERFUL. Two of them only cost $20. The bases plug into an outlet like a night light. The removable flashlight sits in the base. It can also be used for a night light and if the power goes out, they will light up. They have very bright LED lights. Ilona loaned hers to me when I first had to crawl into the cabinet.
I do manage to get things done around here but it seems to take forever. I am grateful that I can make any progress but wish I could move faster. By the time I get one thing done, it's time to redo what I've already done. I don't know whether or not to go over to the condo mtg. It's the first one since everyone has come down.
I ordered a Kindle Fire manual from Amazon and it downloaded to the KF. For some reason, I have to take extra steps to get things I order from my computer to download to the KF. It was actually easier on my plain old Kindle. I still love the KF but have to get used to it. These new devices come with no manuals and if we don't know how to do something, we have to look it up online or order manuals. I guess kids know how to do everything. We are the dinosaurs which are going extinct.
I will leave y'all with the name of one of the best treats I've ever had. They have them at Costco and Publix (cheaper at Costco in the large bag). They are Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle from Sheila G. They are like flat chocolate chips which are just like the outer edge of brownies, the best part. They come in chocolate chip or with nuts. I like the chocolate chips better. Warning: you can't eat just one. Six pieces are only 120 calories.
I've already sent up my daily prayers for us all. Please, just close your eyes and feel the warm comfort from my prayers settle on you all.
I am soooo sorry that your virus won't go away. When I got sick with mine up in Atlanta, I would get sick every time I ate and, sometimes, in between eating. I finally took Pepto Bismol every time I ate for a whole day and stayed in bed. It cleared it up. I also got a cold when I came home and it went into a sinus infection so I was fighting that at the same time. My kids in Atlanta are just now getting over it. We got it at Thanksgiving. I can't remember ever having a virus keep coming back continually like that. Hopefully, your will leave.
I'm laughing, thinking about Rosie Kitty eating her veggies. Tweety and Sylvester won't eat human food, even steak, except that they do like shrimp. They have expensive tastes. Simon showed up at my neighbor's after his breakfast this morning. She has a little wagon outside and it collects water in it. All the cats drink out of it. She was amazed at how healthy Simon looks. He's a big cat and I think that, finally, he is getting enough to eat. We're all so happy to be able to help take care of him because he's homeless and too scared to let anyone near.
My other neighbor has been very sick with a sinus infection and bronchitis. She has one eye which is more dilated than the other so is seeing the eye doc this morning. She woke to find her oldest cat had died in the night. I feel so bad for her and concerned about her eye. I'm glad she's seeing the doc. Seems like so many of us are sick and dealing with other issues too.
My hip is even better than yesterday but still a wee bit sore. It's no longer weak, though, and I think that's the best sign. My friend and neighbor, who is a nurse, thinks the hip joint wasn't all the way in place and when I rolled, it was just like a chiropractic treatment that popped it back where it belonged. In any case, it's just one less thing I have to worry about. I have all kinds of doc and dentist appts. coming up and I hate that even if they are just checkups and teeth cleaning.
BTW, my shopping friend, I found the elusive extra pocket pics for my Water Pic on Amazon. They are nowhere to be found in stores now. There is some kind of new Water-Pic-Like product which I see everywhere. Best part is that I'm still on my free Prime membership with Amazon so there is no S&H charge. The Prime costs $80 a year and allows free downloading of books from their library and streaming of movies. Well, I can borrow books from our library here for free and I have Netflix so I'm going to pass on it. I think $80 is a lot.
Well, I had better start typing up our President's report for our annual meeting for our bldg. I need to do one too but mine is always short because he usually covers most everything in his. I clean up the grammar and spelling and I type his report because I'm a fast typist. Still, I want to get it out of the way. I feel as though the Red Tide is back today big time. I am feeling jittery and my nose is running but I don't have the usual RT hack. Maybe my nerves are just on edge today.
Again, my love to everyone.
Well, the crab dinner happened! Delicious, with a french baguette and super-good olive oil (peppery green flavour). We used to use melted butter (yum!) but have switched, for health reasons, to olive oils. Hope to eat a lot more crab this winter -- the season has just begun, and the crabs are local.
Very cold weather for us. Had to leave the water running to prevent burst pipes. At least it's sunny! I can bundle up and sit outside in the sun. At least 'til my butt gets cold, and then I'm in!
I haven't been to town in a month or so. Our telephone line needs replacing -- too much static. We get no cell reception here....
I found that Verizon has been charging me for years for inside wire maintenance. This is something I never signed up for. Verizon is not looked kindly at by local people. They do minimal maintenance on their poles, etc. They were sued recently by a hamlet that had been without their service for a month!
Sorry you feel cruddy, Diane and Mikie and Leah and I guess everyone else. Otherwise we wouldn't have this lovely message board would we?
Love to all,
Prayers to all,
and now to the sun....
Diane, I'm sooooo glad you're seeing the doc. Even if there's nothing he can really do for you, you'll feel better just knowing and not sitting there wondering what it is and whether it'll ever leave. Good luck with the doc. I am still laughing at Rosie. No wonder you're tired, having to fend her off while you try to eat Tweety has words too. She used to say, "muraaah," for milk but she changed it to, "marooo." I just had to throw her out. She's miffed because I'm on the computer and not playing with her. She runs to chew on electrical cords when she doesn't get her way. Brat! Lovable brat.
No one buys desktop computers anymore and I've been wondering when laptops would become extinct because of tablets. Have you seen the new Microsoft Connect? I don't even know if they are available. They work like a tablet with a touchscreen but a flat piece of plastic attaches and it is a keyboard/cover. Unfortunately, I've not heard good things about Windows 8. I had the opportunity to upgrade for $39 but decided against it. I know it will eventually be what is being used but they likely have bugs to work out. I don't like typing on tablets nor my touchscreen phone. I must be getting to be an old fart who cannot adapt to change.
Barry, mmmmmmm, crab. I love seafood. I just had a lunch of shrimp salad and toasted Italian country bread. Glad it's sunny even if it is cold. I can't believe how cold it feels in the mornings and gets to the mid-80's during the days. I've heard that Verison is a bad carrier for land lines. It's always been good for cell phones, though. Now, with my TracFone, I get whatever is available, usually T-Mobile or AT&T. So far, so good with it. Phone companies are supposed to ask before they add that line maintenance charge. Even when they do, they try scare tactics, telling people that if something goes wrong in the inside wiring, it could cost thousands.
I didn't go to the mtg. today but I guess nothing happened. Business as usual. As usually happens when everyone gets here, people are sniping at one another. I'm always glad to see everyone come down but I don't like the tensions. Think I'll stay out of the fray for a few days. No one's sniping at me but there is just sniping in general. I like it peaceful and friendly. Sometimes, old people got nothin' better to do.
In fact, I think I'll just rest for the remainder of the day. Got the President's report done. Had problems with my printer. I hope they are fixed. HATE printer problems. Hope everyone else is having a nice, restful day.
Which is exactly what I've been since Sunday. Our weekend with the family was wonderful. Our GGs get along so well, and there wasn't even one bicker from them. They loved swimming in the pool......three parents and 8 little ones for over an hour.
Then opened presents, and visited while the little ones played. My one DD got a horse to match her little girl's doll, and a set of walkie talkies for her brother as gifts from us. They were things 'santa' didn't bring them, and they were soo excited. My other DD got a wrap-around microphone (that can be worn around the arm, waist, or attached to a chair, etc.) from us, a small wagon for her little son, and a picture-making kit for her other daughter.
Think I'll ask them to shop for us next year too I have no idea what to get kids any more, especially in a $25 limit! They tell me to shop online, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Plus you have to have ideas first!
We ate together..pulled pork, ham, potatoes, reslish tray, and several desserts with of course s'mores made from cereal and chocolate (good!), fruit, and nuts to snack on. The conference room at the motel worked out so well, and I've never been in a motel with more accommodating and wonderful employees. They even went out of their way to comment on how good the grands were in the hallways! (No, our grands are NOT always this good...lol.)
The older kids (4 high school and 2 Jr. hi) pulled the little ones around in the little wagon in the room, and sat on the floor playing with them. The adults played cards and had a few drinks, and visited. We called our GS in the Air Force and all talked to him for awhile.
The next day some slept in and the rest ate breakfast together. Then we ate lunch together, and headed home. It's so much more relaxed than having it in someone's home, and with 22 of us now, (23 next month) we're just piled on top of each other. I just can't do that anymore.
I snuck out of the room several times for a sensory overload break, and my son brought a chair from his room with rollers, so I sat and still moved around. Unfortunately, you know the drill....It's been the bed and I for 2 days now. This total exhaustion is unreal. Much easier to deal with the pain..I have meds for that. But I wouldn't trade the misery for the joy that it was. Just love each of those GGs..well, and our kids of course, but they're not nearly as much fun!
Your posts have been read, and I will come back and visit each one of you later. Need to go back to bed for a bit, and hopefully today will be a better day. At least I have the energy to post Hugs to all

Jole - glad you had asuch a nice visit with everyone. I agree with the not knowing what to give for most of the g kids and some of the kids too. I just get gift cards or certificates. They all know what they all want. Sometimes they don't even tell the parents what they want. It drives me crazy so gift cards it is.
I just sent a gift certificate and also called DGD at the U of Alabama. Today is her birthday , 19 - OMG. Sent her a gift cert. that she can get when she recieves ist and has the time to go shopping. I was a bit late in sending it.
Mikie - Sounds like are feeling better but busy busy as almost usual. You are nice and warm. I am waiting for it to warm up . Maybe it will hit 50 today they said, we will see.
Diane - Hope you are doidng OK. Making any soups ;ately. I tried a chili recipe int e crock pot today. We will see how it turns out. If really good I will try and put it on the crockpot soup, etc. thread.
Frieda - Hope yo are doing OK and not much worse.
Hi to Pam, Barry and everyone else I might have forgotten.
Jole, it warmed my heart to read of your wonderful reunion. I think the motel is a great idea. I'm sorry you are tired and in pain. It's, unfortunately, the price we pay just to try to do something "normal." Please just rest up and be comforted by the wonderful memories.
Granni, I hope it does warm up for you. I've had the A/C on this afternoon as I like it comfortable in here. Yes, I always have things I need to do but I only do as much as I can. What I'm doing right now is sooooo time consuming. I did get the modifications done to the TV armoire cabinet and got the stereo installed in the lower cabinet. I redrilled some holes and moved the shelf up above the stereo--just enough room for my Mom's tapes. It's her stereo and it has tape decks so I think I'll play some of her tapes. Many of them are still unopened. I think she loved to order music from TV commercials. I alphbetized them so I can, hopefully, find them in the plastic cases.
My hip is still a bit sore so I'm definitely not overdoing it. I stop and rest up. I'm still using my heating pad on my hip and leg. I didn't go out for coffee this morning nor later just to visit. I think I needed to take a day away from the neighbors. We've spent a lot of time together lately.
Yesterday, I watered and fed our flowerboxes. OMG, they are like the Hanging Gardens of Babalon. The red geraniums are gorgeous and the varigated vines are hanging down all over the place. There are tiny red flowers on them that one has to look closely to see. We still don't know what these vines are but we love them.
Think I'll go back to lie down. Not only am I tired and sore but all the dust from cleaning and drilling have caused my nose to stop up and it has given me a headache. Whine, whine, whine!
Sending so much love to everyone.
Mikie - I just saw you post and so came to see before getting off here. You wear me out with drilling and all that stuff. I'm sure the armoire with the TV in it will be so nice. Nice you have you mom's tapes too. Hope they all work for you. The heating pad sounds really good and hope it will help your hip and the pain it has. I find heat so soothing. Sounds like you have been busy doing lots of little things. That is good and you feel good when you get to do some of the little things that often get undone.
Yes, I think itis good for you to sometimes take it easy from the usual and just rest. Sorry you now have a headache from all the dust and everything from the drilling. Hope you get a nice nap and feel better afterwards.
Hugz to you and everydobby else who may be lurking but not posting. I even chopped the stuff that needs to be chopped, etc. for the crock pot split pea soup I will make tomorrow. I will be out part of the day so wanted to get that started. That is the hardest part with all the chopping and all that needs to get done. Need to prehead the oven now for the bread so we can eat early so I can go to choir practice tonightl. I haven't been to choir practice since in Nov. when I got sick(er).
Talk about getting things done. All that chopping and prep and then, off to church. You are one busy lady. Now, if you could just let Rosie Kitten come over for a few bites of carrot...
Speaking of which, Simon came late for his breakfast, after 6:00. I opened the door to throw the newspaper over for Barb to read and he was eating. Instead of running, he just looked at me--progress. Of course, had I opened the glass storm door, he probably would have taken off. I watched him through the blinds and, after he ate, he sat and licked his paws and lay down to rest with his chin on his crossed paws. Now that's confidence that he is safe here, at least, as safe as he ever feels. He will climb up on top of Jeff's outdoor storage box to take a nap. It's in the shade and hidden by plants. We have one here too and, for all I know, he may sleep there. I think he likes Jeff's because Tweety and Sylvester are usually hanging out there and if there is danger, the other cats would know.
I got the TV armoire done! Yea! It sounds like such a little thing but it took forever. I slept like a log last night, even after falling asleep in the evening. My hip continues to improve, even though I was up and down and moving all around in the cramped space. Think I'll try to deal with stuff in my bedroom today. It's gotten messed up while I did the armoire. Whack-A-Mole projects
Rock posted a very short response to a ProHealth post on the CFIDS/FM board. He isn't feeling up to par and his computer is having problems. AACK! The double whammy. I'll send up an extra prayer for him.
I had better get going. BTW, rash is continuing to improve. I see the doc on the 24th. I think she'll be pleased with the progress. My best to everyone.
...from the snowy North country.
We got a new fresh layer of white stuff, about 1/2 foot thick...on EVERYthing.
I'd forgtten just HOW beautiful it is, when it lines every branch of every bush and tree, and puts a vanilla cake icing on all rooftops and on our birdfeeder tops.....
it was beautiful to watch it falling, yesterday, and to see it out the window, was breathtaking.
Thankfully, since that sight was my joy for the um....
I've been struggling badly, with all of my symptoms, plus often some new and acute ones thrown in to worry me.
I did stop by here, um...sometime....
and now I am glad to read the update, that you went to the dr, DIANE.
I'd thought that you should be checked, since it had kept going for so long. I'm also glad that the appt went well. And that you wore jammies. LOL
My style so you thought of me.
I was glad to hear that your family gathering went so well, after all the wait for it.
Yes, you must be very drained, for some time, afterwards...but worth it, as you said. Glad it didn't need to be in someone's home, especially yours!
MIKIE, I'm glad your skin and your hip are both slowly improving...and that you saw a post from ROCK.
GRANNI.....sorry your team lost....but I thought they played well this week, again, and had a good season.
It's nice to smell all of the good soup, around here,
but yes, why not be generous enough to share with Diane's Rosie kitten? LOL
DIANE, my cats have all loved PLAin canned pumpkin, which is a natural stool softener for them,
just enough to help them...and they like it, and the vets all say its very good for them.
AND I have a strong feeling that ROSIE would love it.
Be careful to get the plain veggie, NOT the pie mix can with spices, the vets say.
PAM, thinking of you!
ANd BARRY....oh yes, I've thought of you too.
I managed to change out of my jammie top, today.
AND into another jammie top. LOL
Not sure whether to say I got dressed, amongst today's "accomplishments" or not.
Take care, everyone!

Diane - The soup is smelling so good around here. Would you like some? I can even give you an extra small blwo for Rosie kitten. Thatis funy that she even likes the soup and carrot. Is there anything thta you have found that she doesn't like to eat???
Where do you get your jammies? Those tops sound nice. Are they solid color or print and what is the material, do you know? Glad your doctor visit went well. Sounds like your flu is the tummy flu. I rarely get that and mostly get the URI flu type - knock on wood. Not that either one is very good. That was good that he gave you teriflu and whatever else that was. If you donlt use it now you can keep it for later on. That is how I think !! Glad that anti nausea med. helped you or has bee. Hope it all goes away quickly so you can feel better soon. What is your temp outside? Any snow? I know FRIEDA said that she had some not to long ago.
My eldest daughter sent me a pic and on FB of her at the U of Alabama with snowflakes and front on her jacket. Wonder if daughter in NC will be getting any. It looked like a possibility on the TV when we were at the gym and I was on the treadmill.
Hi to Mike, Frieda, Rock, Pam, Jole and who ever else I forgot. I think someone said that Rock was having computer problems and wasn't feeling to great. Hope he gets the computer fixed and feeling better real soon.
Love to awl,
Diane, I'm so glad this doc has turned out to be so good. I am glad you got some things to help you through this flu. Smart Water is good to drink because it tastes just like any water but contains the electrolytes to keep you hydrated.
Leah, your description of the snow was beautiful. I have a print on one of my walls that is a single tree in a snowy field. It's so peaceful and lovely that I can just sit and look at it and it's like meditating.
I'm so thrilled that so many of our jammies are looking more and more like normal clothes. Target sells the same pants as jammie bottoms and Yoga pants. I was sitting outside in my tee shirt and thermal jammie bottoms and Ilona came up to say their electricity was partly out. We knew it was the breaker in the box outside which got corroded by the idiot who adjusts our sprinklers. It doesn''t take a rocket scientist to know that water and electricity don't mix well.
So, I had to jump up while they called our mgmt. co. to get the electricians to come out. I left my tee shirt on and put on my khaki Capri pants. I also put on socks and rubber-soled tennies since I would be watching near the electrical box. As it turned out, we only had to replace one main breaker and will likely be around $500. If we had had to replace the entire box, it would cost $7,000 to $8,000. We will eventually have to do this so we will be setting aside money in our reserves to cover it when it comes. Yikes!
Obviously, the day didn't go as planned. Still, what we did was vitally important. That could have caused a fire. While I was out, I cleaned all the light fixtures outside and the railing on the balcony. I also swept but it turned out to be futile. While the electricians were working on the box, the temp dropped drastically and the wind whipped up. It knocked over my orchid. I put my car out and let God wash it when it rained. Then, I drove it under the carport and wiped it down. It's not perfect but the bird crap is gone.
I am achey so just took a nice soak in Epsom Salts. I think it's actually warmed up a bit so may not put on my fuzzy jammies, just a tee and thermal jammie bottoms, my favorite. Now that the car has been "washed," I should go out tomorrow and throw a quick wax job on it. That means I won't wash my hair in the morning; it'll just get sweaty. As it is, it's all curley from my being out in the rain.
Think I'll watch TV from my bed tonight. I'll probably drop off before anything good comes on. This happens a lot. I watch many shows On Demand. Got my new Water Pik heads today and my auto-fill skin cream came from HSN. They also send me a $25 gift card just because I got my Kindle there last month. If one has an HSN card, there are always extra benefits. Despite my austerity program, now I HAVE to buy something. I'll spend it on something useful and needed.
Well, dear friends, you know I want the best for everyone and keep you all in my prayers. Have a lovely evening.
But have been down. No energy whatsoever. So exhausted it's hard to talk to my DD, who calls every day to check on us. Some days I wish I had a laptop.
