It just varies SO much with each person. I have only talked to one person that has taken it long term and "she" feels it helps enough to continue taking it. (along with many other meds)

It can also vary in how high you have to go in miligrams for you to even tell if it's helping, and that is a long process.

After 2 weeks on Lyrica- I had gained 20 lbs and felt like the Pilsbury Doughboy! Puffy and swelling, with no real benefit.

But please... don't let that- or what anyone else has to say about it stop you. It just may do the trick for you. We're ALL so different. And what works for one may do nothing! for the next person.

I wish you lots of luck- keep us updated if you decide to try it, ok?
I too, have no idea how much it costs. My doctor gave me a two weeeks sample supply, so I never HAD to buy it.

    Best of luck!

I have been taking it at 50 m.g.s one time a day since January. I started taking it for nerve pain right after back surgery. I haven't increased it and it didn't take long for the side effects to go away. It does tend to make you retain a bit of water. I haven't gained any weight. I take it in the later part of the afternoon.

I have found that it calms my whole system down and that helps me to sleep. If I forget to take it, I don't sleep as well. It doesn't help at all with flares but I have other med's for that. I like it and will continue taking it. One side effect that still lingers is that it plays hell on your memory but what doesn't? Hope this helps. Let us know how you are doing on it. If you do decide to take it, start in the early evening until the side effects subside. Best wishes. P

Been taking Lyrica for 3 months. I am up to 150mg am/150 mg pm and it works gerat for me. Most days I can skip any Vicoden durring the day (I'm also on the Fentynaly 50mg patch). I'm still working a fulltiem job but it's getting hard. I'm only going to be 30 and have a family to take care of.

I've notice NO side effects but stated at 25mg a day for 3 days then upped the does on the fourth.

Anything is worht a shot and remember not everything works for everyone.

I am 4 days into starting Lyrica. My doctor has me starting off slowly and working up to a maximum dose. So far so good. I took 1 in a.m. and 1 in p.m for 3 days, then started with 2 at bedtime last night. Still one in the morning. No problems yet! After 3-4 days I'll go to 2 am & pm. Then on up every so many days, to I think she said 300 mg daily.
I have been so skeptical about starting it while going to a specialist. he was going to start me out with a high dosage!
My PCP is taking over my care of Fibro and has FULLY explained the yeah and nays of the medication. She is the one that says to start slowly and work your way up.

I started taking my lyrica on monday night. I take one a.m. & one p.m. 75 mg

I feel it is helping the pain some, but I feel so groggy.
will that feeling go away eventually?
I dont want something that is going to make me feel groggy and weak all the time.

I take 150mg in the a.m. and another 150mg in the pm. I've only been on it for month or so. I do still have to take perocet and oxycotin everyday with it. But it does help. I have not noticed any weight gain. But have noticed some swelling of fingers, and my face is really puffy this morning.
