I had such a painful weekend and I don't know what I can do to make it better.

I had been posting on this board about how much malic acid and magnesium helps, and now suddenly it is not helping.
My pain was so severe I thought I would go to the ER for something, anything to make it go away, but will you know what I mean when I say I was to sick to go, I didn't feel I could stand on my legs enough to go for my pain med in the medicine cabinet, no less make the trip to the hospital. My husband got my Ultracet for me and it relieved it some.

My Doc tells me I must keep dancing(his term for moving around, and I try. I have noticed that when I do this, the next day I have alot of pain, and yes I walked on Saturday with my dogs, just a slow leisurely walk, which was a snail's pace compared to what I used to do.

Is it usual for new med/suppl to really give you a boost in the beginning and then phase out.

    Here is what I take
    Zestril
    Prozac
    Vit E 400, iu
    CoQ10 100 mg
    Calcium 600 mg with D
    Garlic (for high cholesterol
Double Strenth Pro Energy two tabs bid
    Omega 3 1000 mg once a day
    mutli vitamin
    liquid B-12, one dropperful daily.
So what do you think I am missing or why would I have this bad attack
Usually when I see my dr, and I do like him, he's not a smart mouth about it, but he usually says something like
"It's a mystery illness yet, we don't know everything about it, and he does try to work with me. I have a script for pain Ultracet, one tab bid.

Please help whenever you have time. Sorry for the long post. I would be greatful for any help. I don't want to go to bed tonite and hurt that badly again.

    Love Shirley

PS Just noticed that I didn't mention that it is Fibromyalgia, and I am 68 yrs young ( though sometimes I feel like 68 going on 98)

I am so very sorry for all your pain. I am hoping one of our medical professionals can give you some help here. I usually suggest people see pain specialists as they know pain and pain treatments better than anyone.

IF, I was your doc. I would have you increase your magnesium add calcium (1200mgs Calcium of it divided/ magnesium 400 mgs TID) and maybe even give it to you I.V.

The addition of a small amount of Flexeril or Elavil, Nortriptyline 10-20mgs at bedtime, as trial for 3 weeks. Increase CoQ10 to 180-200mgs in divided doses with food or oil. Add a full B-complex vitamin and a multi. Give you Vicodin ES or HP or Tylenol 4's, for breakthrough pain if that didnt work Demerol and if as a last resort Diaudid or Oxycontin for pain (opiods are sometimes needed, Codeine is a good place to start. Also your Ultract which is, Ultram 37.mgs and 325 of Tylenol per tab, has weak opioid Mu activity. and is superb for many also!)
I,Also, would give you B-12 and B-complex shots regularly. I would try and get you off the Prozac if it wasnt working. Addition of Flax Oil also and Fish Oil to your diet, if not done so already.

And correct your sleep and to help with muscle relaxaion, Klonopin (clonazepam) .25 mgs BID up to 0.5 mgs BID or 1mg MAX. a day. I am shying away from benzo use, but it does help me and many others and tends to be my favored benzo for anxiety, muscle relaxation, severe sleep issues and as an adjuct to pain meds. Wouldn't want to overmedicate, but if strain and muscle stress was an issue the addition of Zanaflex would be a consideration, in lieu of the flexeril.

Also, I would prescribe hydrotherapy as a big must!
You can print this and bring to your dr.

Perhaps you should consider opening a clinic just for our illnesses. My specialist does this and he is busy as all getout. There will be a huge need for this as more and more of us become ill. Of course, if there's a cure, you might be out of business overnight.

Ace and Madwolf, how can I say Thank you enough.

I have printed this out and will definitely be trying it.

I know you both are busy busy people

and I so appreciate your taking time.

Miki is right, we need to put you on the payroll, or if you are close back, we will take you out for steak dinner with all the trimmings.

As far as the pain meds go, I have such a sensitive gut that Ultracet is probably all I can take, codeine makes me hallucinate, last time I took it I saw a wall full of chocolate cakes, that would have been allright but I couldn't reach them. LOL

Thanks again, You are terrific!!! How lucky for us to have you on this board.

    Love
