Had a bad fall on concrete sidewalk a little over a month ago.
Was taken to ER, ER doc said little fractures to face..."don't worry about
it, just check with your primary care doc on Monday (my fall happened on Friday afternoon).
Primary care doc touched my face and noted that something did not feel right so he referred me to maxiofacial specialists. Turns out I had major fracturing of cheek bone in 2 places and my eye socket had totally crumbled and was amazed that I still had vision in injured eye plus it had not fallen into my sinus pocket or popped out. Had urgent surgery within 24 hours. Still recuperating one month later. Also I have a fracture in my temple. Doctor is trying to see if it will heal itself...although I think it is causing not only headache on that side but more pain behind my eye.

You poor thing. My heart goes out to you. Cant even imagine what you are going thru.

Do you have someone helping you? The incompent er's now a days are scary. We went thru a similar experience with my son-in-law. He was knocked unconious off a dirt bike. The er was going to send him home(no x-rays)I asked them if they were going to stitch the hole in his leg up and they were like "oh wheres that". I knew after we got home he was not ok. noticed his thumb was broken. Took him to diff er-broken hand collar bone concussion ribs. skin off head to toe. They said he should have never been sent home.

I hope you are doing ok. It sounds like a long slow recovery. Get you er records from the hospital and talk to a lawyer.

    warm hugs

Oh my goodness!! You poor thing. Falling must have been scary enough in itself.

Ouch - are you having a lot of pain? I'm hoping that you heal quickly and feel better soon!

My heart goes out to you.

What a terrible thing to happen to you:) ER's are sometimes really quick to let people go without enough of an effort on their part to dx a problem.

Sometimes I think it might be the doctor as apposed to the hospital itself.

    Take Care:)

    Hi Ladybird1

The fracture you are describing seems consistant with a zygomatic-maxillary fracture with the floor of the orbit involved. This particular fracture is not considered an emergency unless there is ocular damage or severe entrapement of the ocular muscles. Generally these type of fractures are repaired within one to two weeks from the time of injury to allow the swelling to resolve. After surgery numbness of the cheek is common which generally resolves over time. The late effect of his type of fracture is the eye position may be lower than the opposite side or the eye itself may appear small.

Non displaced fractures of the temple bone due not require surgery and generally heal on their own.
