    Matching Donations for Our First-Ever Widely Circulated Press Release - The ME/CFS Worldwide Patient Alliance (MCWPA)

    We have an Angel donor willing to match donations up to $l,000 for us to be able to send a press release to all major media outlets and reporters in the U.S. and U.K. This is timed to go out on the same day as the ad, to bring attention to the ad, the cause and the illness. The American media is our main target because international media will usually follow them, but we'd like to include the U.K. media since patients need so much help there.

    The cost for this wire service is $1,130. That's our goal. If we raise more than this we can also target other media around the world. By the way, in using this service we are also buying a special Washington, D.C.-based list to help ensure coverage there.

    Our MCWPA ad is a first - never has a patient group raised this much money or advertised in a major daily newspaper! Getting our press release into the hands of all major media in the U.S. and U.K. would also be a first! Please help us reach this goal. Remember, the ad is only half our program; public relations is the other half. Tina will be updating you shortly on the ad.

    I need to add that the information that will be in this press release will be more detailed than what will appear in the Washington Post 1/2 page AD. The POST AD is meant to grab attention and pull the public, journalists, policy makers, etc. in and get them to really look into what we are saying. The AD will be EYE catching and will force questions to be asked by the public of the policy makers.
    The Press Release will give greater detail to the Journalists and media so that they have the background information to hit the ground running and be able to see our AD in the POST, do some more research and write up their stories. The Press Release will hit every single journalist and media outlet in the US and UK. The Washington Post AD and the press release are a double-whammy - they come out on or about the same day and really give the journalists and media the info they need to spread our message on ME/CFS and the newly discovered and infectious third human Retrovirus (Retrovirus family). This two-pronged assault will get us attention from all corners. We also have people (experts) lined up and ready to give interviews when requested by journalists, media, public, etc.

    Help us if you can. We have one shot. If we blow this one shot there may not be another time to really hit and hit hard. I can't be sick in bed for another 16 years. I can't stand to watch my husband continue to lay on the couch for another six years. I will NOT stand to watch my baby nephew and 10 year old niece live my life of hell. Please help if you can.
