Well starting Monday our wonderful government here is shutting down until they can agree on a budget. We are 1.8 BILLION in the whole and the Dems and Repubs are fighting over raising taxes.

All our Sec of State's are closing, you can't even do anything on line or mail anything in. I still have to renew my tabs on my car. I bought a new one in July and didn't think anything about renewing them because i figured it would have been done when I bought it since it was only a month away. Oops. Then I just haven't had the 100 bucks to get it done. I have insurance and all that on it, so I haven't been terribly worried about it.

Can't even buy lottery tickets and that'a a big revenue builder. Schools won't get paid. Mental health will shut down to and they won't even take any voluntary admissions. That's awful, I hope no one wants to commit suicide and go for help!

Can't say as if I haven't started to think about looking for nursing schools or something outside this state. It's just getting awful. I guess one good thing about having health care experience. There will always be sick people and stupid people (the EMT job security for me there).

    Howdy neighbor jens2angels.

I would really like to know where all our money really goes. Our government seems to be overpaid and they like to spend money on ****.

The school my kids attend just spent 4 Million dollars on a brand new football field last year and we have not won a home game in 20 years until tonight. Money well spent.....NOT!

I am born and bred in Michigan but I am getting serioulsy afraid to live here and raise a family. Priorities are just not what they should be! So SAD!

I think I heard that the GM strike is over already.

I hate politics but I really hate seeing the state suffer because of all of this.

    It's just crazy.

He is almost 14 and doesn't get how the government can just shut down!! I tried explaining it to him and finally just handed over the newspaper.

Today's paper says 85% of state troopers will be off duty for the duration of the shutdown. That's just wonderful. The casino's get to stay open, but once inventories of liquor is gone, then the stores can't replace it because the state government is needed for that too!

I really dislike our governor. Without the tax revenue from the liquor, lottery and other business, it's going to hurt the budget even more!!

Hubby keeps saying the shutdown will never happen, but it's only one day away and no agreement on the budget!!!

My Mom, Aunts and Uncles moved from the coal mines of Pennsylvania to Michigan for a better life. Most of them worked in the auto plants and had a good life here. Now the 2nd and third generation auto workers are struggling to keep their jobs or are out of work. Time sure changes things.

Like a lot of people wanting to work for Kellogg's or Post. I wouldn't go there because you have no job security. Unless you have been there for 25 plus years you are always on the chopping block for lay off.

A good friend of mine worked in the super dispatch center at the federal center here and she stayed at the ambulance company to dispatch for less pay, because she knew she wouldn't get laid off.

I am bringing my reverse osmosis with me whenever I move! It's not part of the house, but the whole house filter is.

Just buy one now and bring it with you when you move!!!

Revenue from lottery tickets, casinos, and an increase of 75 cents on a pack of cigarettes and we're in the hole. Unbelievable. Godbless
