I need some help. I'm going to start the Guai FM Reversal Protocal. I need the brand name of a cheap lotion and lip care and a body soap. I can order the hair shampoo and Guaifenesin FA here at ProHealth.

I'm sick of the pain and stiffness! Mickie you win:)

I answered you under the long thread. I suggest you do a search on sal free and it will turn up several websites for sal-free products. You still have to read labels because the formulas change often. These websites aren't selling sal-free products; they are telling you which ones in stores are sal free.

It is important to be sal free when you start the process in order to get it working as well as it can. You don't know at this point how sensitive to sals your system is. I know that I can tolerate some sals and I'm about 90 percent reversed, so I'm not as diligent as I was when starting out. I no longer worry about using anything which I rinse off, such as shower soap, shampoo, and conditioner. I use Jergens Original Scent lotion. The fragrance in it is artificial, as far as I can determine, but if I were starting out, I wouldn't trust that. Living where it's so humid, I don't have to use lotion that much.

    Good luck to you.

Not to discourage you, but I tried the guafenisin program for over a year and it didn't really help me. But I know it has helped others here, including Mikie.

When I was on the program, I used products by Andrea Rose. I can't remember the website. The products aren't cheap, however, but lasted me quite awhile since I was the only one using them.

    Good luck.

Mikie thanks for the help. I'm all set to go. I'll be starting in about 3 days.

Ellencomstock thanks for sharing. I've got nothing to lose I'm going to give it a try. I maybe one of the ones it helps.

I know how disappointing it must be to have the possibility of reversal dangled before one only to have it not work. I went into it with the attitude that if it didn't work, I would be no worse off than I had been. I feel very fortunate that it worked for me like a textbook case.

Where there is a Guai specialist and/or a Guai support group, the rate of success is much higher. I heard of one woman for whom the Guai wasn't working. She and her doc were at a loss. It was discovered that she was extremely sal sensitive and was used to walking barefoot on her lawn. The sals in the grass were being absorbed through the bottom of her feet. When she stopped going barefoot, the Guai started to work. I would not have believed something like that could block the Guai. That's why it is so important to be sal free before starting.

    Good luck.

Ok...is there any where else I can buy Guai besides online? I would prefer to purchase it in a store. What am I looking for exactly?

Have everything lined up...but...this is a question that I can't find the answer to online...Can we drink green tea? flavor our food with herbs? I see that we are NOT to use mint in anything and parsley is mentioned, too. I just switched to green tea from coffee...

There was such a long list of stuff free of salicylates that I had no trouble finding what I needed. Thank heavens my make up line was listed as good to use.

I know this doesnt work for many people...but if I start feeling worse and watch for the signs listed on the guaidoc site I will keep on going for a long time. It isn't expensive or dangerous in any way, so I am in it for a while...Jana

Jana1 I don't know if we can drink green tea. I no we can not use it in any products we use for skin hair ect. Mikie would know.

Swimmers71- Sorry I don't know where else you can buy Guai except on line

Be careful which sort of Guai you use; they don't all work. I wasted a lot of money importing one that didn't. The ones sold here are recommended by Dr St Amand as he's tested them.

Both the American & British on-line Guai Groups have long lists of toiletries, dental products & make up that is sal-safe. (I use vaseline for lip care & cheap fragrance free supermarket soap.) They also have message boards where queries can be posted. You can access them via the Guaidoc website.

Asprin, herbal remedies & teas & mint will block, so cannot be ingested. Gloves should be worn for housework & gardening, & toilet tissue & razors with aloe vera avoided.

    Best wishes with this Dee

I would avoid it, at least, in the beginning. Add it later and see what happens. The same is true of smoking. They just don't know whether the tobacco blocks the Guai. We can flavor our foods with herbs except, as always, avoid mint.

COSTCO sells pure Guai but it does contain some blue dye. It is very cheap. I like the fast acting pure white Guai sold here. Some do better on the long acting Guai. I don't know how much dye is in the long acting Guai sold here. I would stay away from the Mucinex brand name of Guai. It has a horrible dark teal blue/green dye which gave me a rash when I started it.

Thank you for all the great tips! I need them. I'm going into this knowing I will be taking Guai for the rest of my life. I'll save lots of money in the long run dropping the herbs and ess. oils ect.

Vaseline for the lips thanks :) I live in Idaho and it is so so dry here. I'm starting out with Grace skin care products and their Solo Guai. I'm sure I'll have to deal with the blocking things at first but I'm sure it gets easyer the longer you are on the Guai.
    Thanks,

Thanks for answering Jana1's green tea question. Green tea and I don't get alone it makes me foggyer than normal. I made it on to the broad (Guai website) WOW what a hard board to get on. The folks seem very friendly but the board is a tough one.lol

I smoke and I smoke menthol and folks say that will block the Guai so I'll switch to non-menthol.

I'm using the Grace Fibro Smile Solo Guai to start with. 300 x 2. It's not here yet I ordered on line.

    Have a great day,

I would love to work this program with you! We have a lot in common as far as the few things in your profile tell me, wife, mother, and Gramma!

I am using Ivory soap that I have used all my life, and Mary Kay products..the things I have always used from them. Those things are listed on the guai site as acceptable. I have baking soda out for my toothpaste until I can order some or get my husband to get some through his office.

The only little bleep on the horizon is a trip to OKC on the 24th of this month to see my DIL and Grandchildren from my son's family. He is the son in Iraq. I hope the flaring will allow me to do activities with the kids. It is only for a week, and usually I can do anything for a week with my husband's help. My DIL is also a dear and understands my struggles.

How can we best help each other? Suggestions? perhaps meeton the chat line for pep talks? Looking forward to knowing you better.

You can go into your own private chat room there. My buddy and I compared notes and kept the excitement level up as we went through the first cycle and the various things we discovered as we went along. Just knowing someone else is doing the same things helps more than you would think.

Those of us who have been on the Guai a while are always willing to answer questions as are those on the Guai boards. As a last resort, Claudia, Dr. St. Amand's nurse and co-author, is wonderful at answering questions, usually within 24 hrs.

    Good luck to you.

Ann is also starting the Guai treatment. Perhaps y'all could be your own little support group. You guys can use this board to discuss your progress as well as the chat room.

Hi I'm glad you want to team up hope we can get Ann to join us. I don't know anything about the chat room but I'm willing to learn. So Ivory soap is ok? thats good to know. I don't wear make-up I never have. I wear dentures and the folks at Grace's said Secure adhesive is sal-free so I've got to get some of that.

Your trip sounds wonderful. I think you'll be ok if you start at 300 x 2 of a week. You may not cycle at all on that dose. We need to be sure and look for sal blocks if we don't cycle at 300.

It will be great getting to know you too. So hope this works for all 3 off us (Ann too!)

Did you start today? If so how did it go? Note anything?
    Take care,
    Dee

Nothing at all to the chat room...just click on it, sign on like you do here..and there you are!

I am trying to find out the words we are to look for on labels...a long list of scientific things are listed on guaidoc. I am going to wade thru those. almost all of the Pantene products are listed for hair care. and good ole Aquanet! who made it through the teen years without it! lol

I don't know Ann, but will search her name so I can read her profile and see what she posts about.

Two full days now, and no havent noticed anything. When I first wake up I feel so awful I think what in the world are you doing, trying something new? But after a couple of hours when I feel better and settle down, I am excited about doing this!

How about you? Of course I know NOTHING aobut what to expect!

Have to go get dinner started...tell me a little more about you..location, etc, ok? I am interested.

Ann is (bigmh) I have not looked at her bio yet. So your on day 3 in the morning. I think from 3 to 14 days I read somewhere before anything happens. I hope you don't cycle to hard. What dose are you taking and Brand of Guai?

I live in Southern Idaho. I've been married to my husband 23 years. He is a dear. I've got 2 kids a boy 16 and a girl 21 the 23th of this month. My daughter is carrying our second grandchild a little girl due June 30.

It's spooky trying a new treatment that we are hoping will make us cycle cause we know that its working if we get worse. MOrnings are hard for me too.

But this surgery I had 11/2/05 for a ruptered apendix has changed me. I'm so much sicker nowdays then before that happened. Higher pain level and more brain fog.

Thanks for joining me. I'll see if I can find the chat room. Ok I found the chat your right its easy. Let me know if you want to chat sometime.
    Take care,

Hi! Yes it is kind of odd to knowingly try a treatment that we KNOW will make us worse if it is working! LOL That even sounds crazy when I type it!

I am older than you by 10 years..but not that much wiser, I am sure..hahahah I am using the WalMart stuff, Musinex, that I had left over from another time I was going to try this. I only have 4 more pills left and it is 600mg and I have taken it twice a day. I very seldom have bad ractions to anything, so I took the plunge on the dose.

Tomorrow morning is my 6 month drs check up where he interviews me and decides if I am a good girl and get my pain meds for another 6 months! After that appointment, I am going to WalMart and get the price on these pills and compare them to the price on pro health. Dye doesnt bother me at all..but I dont want to be paying a whole lot more either here on prohealth or at WalMart.

I iwll also buy my shampoo and hair conditioner. The other thing I am looking at is some kind of otc upper that does not have plants in it. I take stacker 2 now, just once a day to get me out of bed and going. I think if I dont have something like that, I would and could sleep all day! Any ideas?

Will be home in the afternoon and we are on the same time zone. I will look on this thread in the morning to see if you post a time that you could be there (chat room)tomorrow from afternoon, on.

I hope you sleep like a baby tonight if that is one of your issues with FM..or CFS ...Jana
