I have to know, do any of you suffer from muscle pain and cramps that feel as if you have been tensing your muscles for hours and they wont relax? I get this way more often than not..seems to be daily. I feel crampy pain and fatigue in my arms that send shooting pains, like electric shocks down into my fingers. I also experience cramps under my ribs all the time that feel like a "stitch" when I breathe.Even my chest muscles and breast muscles feel tight and crampy.I feel like I have a tightening band in my chest under my breasts. Thighs feel crampy and painful/weak as well. I hate feeling every day like I worked out way too hard at the gym when all Ive done is rolled out of bed. My muscles feel shaky and clumsy. Im getting scared. Doctor says my SED rate is double what it should be. Sent me back to the Rhemy....appt not until end of January. Does anyone else get this?

    Thank You for your feedback

Though I still have muscle weakness and pain it was MUCH worse when I was using Lipitor, Crestor, and other statin drugs for cholesterol.

Most of my remaining leg pain apparently is caused by neuropathy and arthritis, with FMS thrown in - just to make things a bit more miserable.

Wishing you all success as you struggle to find relief. Perhaps the frustration of dealing with FMS is almost as devastating as the pain.

I'm new to this, just got dx about 4 weeks ago. I've been getting cramps under my rib cage in my side for quite awhile--when I turn a certain way. Is this part of fibro? I've had restless leg syndrome for a long time and thought my pain in my legs was the painful form of RLS until I could hardly walk or climb stairs. Maybe some of the other things that have been happening to me are part of fibro to. Does anyone know? And, does anyone have one leg that bothers them more than the other? I have had fibro flareups all over, though, even my fingers and the back of my neck. I also get migraines.

Thank you for any info you can give me.

    You described my everyday life.

I don't think there is a muscle in my body that doesn't hurt. I have lost all muscle strength.

Several people have suggested water aerobics will help with the weakness.

I deal with it everyday of my life. One thing I have found that is helpful is magnesium. I take a supplement I buy from my doctor called "Fibro-Care". It has magnesium, malic acid and B vitamins. It really helps with spasms and muscle weakness.

Check with your doc and see if this is something that would benefit you.

I started noticing it about 10 years ago. I have no idea what it is! When I walk my dog or walk up a slight incline and not even that long of a distance, I have to stop and rest my legs. I have no idea what it is?? Muscles feel tight and they hurt. Legs are real shaky. Strange.

Your symptoms sound like the cause may be a chronic borrelia burgdorferi infection. It is a complex but common bacterial infection spread by ticks, otherwise known as lyme.
Many people who were diagnosed with FM, CFS, MS, RA, etc later found out that this bacteria was the cause of their illness.
It happened to me. Now I am getting treatment and getting better.
Please read the symptom list p 9-11 of the following paper.......and the coinfection info p 22-27...
The problem is that 99% of Dr's do not know how to recognize, diagnose or treat lyme, so most people go undiagnosed. Dr's mistakenly rule out lyme by seeing a negative result of a lab test and this is very wrong.
Other important info....
Over the past weekend I started having pain in my arms, like they were weakened similar to what it feels like to hit your elbow or "funny bone". I have muscle pain daily and sometimes it seems like nothing I did could have caused it. The worst pain is sometimes when a person walks by me or a breeze hits my hands or any other part of my body it will literally throb with pain for hours and sometimes days.
I take Klonopin for muscles stress and anxiety and also Demoral for pain. The klonopin is best because it helps me sleep but the demoral while it does help with the pain, for some reason I cannot sleep for hours after taking it.
I would see a pain specialist if I were you although hopefully the one you go to will suggest more like water exercise or physical therapy before putting you on drugs. I used to get a massage once a week and go for pool exercises but my insurance wont cover it anymore. So drugs help.
