I strongly feel my son has CFS as indicated by his health and medical recrods. What type of specialist do I consult with my son about CFS?

I have CFS and I see an infectious disease doctor. Someone on another board had recommended that I see one, and sure enough, my ID doc is extremely knowledgable in CFS. He believes it's a real illness and understands that it is not in my head. He's seen me when I've had my fevers, sore throats and swollen glands. Some people just stick with an internal medicine doctor.

The main thing is, regardless of what type of doctor you choose, you need question whether they treat CFS patients or not. Call around and ask if the doctor has alot of CFS patients. It will give you an idea of whether or not the doctor is qualified to treat your son.

I'm sorry to hear that your son is sick with this disease. The sooner he can get diagnosed and treated, the better it will be for him. There is no cure for CFS, however, it can be managed. I am slowly learning how to balance rest with activity, and to allow myself to recover when I'm feeling sick. It doesn't always work, but it keeps me from being bedridden.

Gentle healing hugs to you and your son.

Do you live anywhere near a Fibro and Fatigue Clinic? (see

The sooner one is tested for the viruses and bacterias known to replicate in many with CFS, the better.

If he can start treatment quickly, the better his chances of full recovery.

Spending a lot of money over the next year may be the best investment one could make.

I hope you find answers that suit you soon. Please give your son our caring and support.

    How old is he?
