    To be brief-

worked 6 years at a job I loved- in Dec. 2004 the diseases that have been ravaging my body (Insulin-dependant Diabetes/ Fibromyalgia / Arthritis / Degenerative Disc Disease / Diverticulosis / Mat Dot Dystrophy-Fuch's syndrome)FORCED me to leave my job or I would drop dead from pain.

I applied for Disability (with 3 Dr.'s agreeing)- turned down twice since. I applied for a hearing in March 2005- my lawyer is telling me that it will be August 2006 or longer because they (courts) are backed up.

Has anyone had this experience- found a way to speed up process- any advice???

Basically, I feel trapped because I CAN'T work- my husband is trying to work 2 jobs because he knows I am genuinely ill- I feel like a terrible burden on my family. Please help!

For me.Got a bench approval and got it.

Some say if you wright to your state Rep. or congressman it might help.

If you can get a letter from your employer on how you worked and how sick you were that is typed and notarized your lawyer should send it in.The judge will revue any new evidence you can submit before the hearing.

I have seen people get approved at that point with new hearing.
    Good luck

I know the panic, nymama, and where your family/support system can be a godsend (more of a godsend than usual, I should say). I've gone through the first two phases also and I'm preparing for the hearing before a judge. This board if FULL of really good ideas on what to include with your files to go to the judge. I've got ME/CFS, but it's heartbreaking to imagine someone with the grocery-list of challenges you've got! Thank god you found a lawyer. I'm in Portland, and I tried everyone I could, as far away as Phoenix, and no lawyer will touch it.

From my understanding, if you are able to do "on-call" temp-type jobs, they can't hold that against you. In fact, it could help your case, I would think, if you could get the temp service to supply records of the number of times they called to offer some work, but you were too sick to take it. And you are showing that you're not looking for a free ride, but will do work willingly if it's possible.

I've made some money "house-sitting." It's great; pick up the newspaper, turn the lights on and off, feed the dog, play with the dog...

    Hope some/any/all of this helps

i am sorry, i dont have any legal advice for you, however i am sure that you are not a burden on your family! especially your husband. and you said it yourself, he knows that you are sick and in pain so please, dont be so hard on yourself. i wish i could help w/ the legal part but i have never tried that so, best of luck with that and stop thinking that you are a burden! have a great day.
