I am currently taking baclofen and glucosamine and chondrotin. Which do not seem to help I think I have been on every medicine they have made and nothing seems to work. My current doctor is scheduling another mri but I have tried to tell him I can deal with the pain from my back more then I can the constant body aching it has been so bad that I have stretched so much that I have pulled muscles, its about to drive me crazy does anyone haveay uggestion on what i could take to easy the acing? I wish I could help more but I can't much. I was wondering if you take any type of pain meds.

Then about your other question about hereditary, I know it is.

My sister in-law has it and so does her mother and both her daughters have it.

Then I have it and my mother had it plus my daughter has it and my son is getting it.

So I don't care what the professionals say I know the truth aboutit from experience.

    Welcome Cath,

I feel so sad to see newcomers because I know that this D.D.has gotten one more sufferer! I wish that I had good news for you concerning the stretching but I will tell you what I do about it. I lay on the most comfortable surface in my house and listen to very calm and pleasant music. There are many comforting, nature-sounding C.D.s available to us now. They are wonderful to relax to.

I make sure that I shut my phone ringer off and that I won't be interrupted by kids, hubby....I usually do this when I'm alone. But under certain circumstanes I also do it when they're home. I ask them politely to give me 30 minutes, so I can be totally relaxed. Now, with eyes closed, I begin to allow all of my body parts to feel relaxed and allow them to sort of stop supporting me. I consciously start with my head and go downwards one body part at a time. My mind, my body and the music come together and I don't allow myself to think of anything else like, bills to pay or whats for supper. And if I find my mind wandering I catch myself and shut it off. I go back to the relaxation.

If you fall asleep, thats fine. But, I've come to love those calming, soothing feelings I get for at least 30 minutes. It was difficult for me to relax the first couple of times, but thats all part of learning something that was totally alien to me. Most of us have never experienced true relaxation. I look forward to this part of my day and I find that the muscle spasms are now rare. I don't get to do this 7 days a week.......but I try. We suffer so much that our bodies need the rest it so deserves.

I suffered with excruciating spasms almost daily. I'm so glad I found some relief. I still have pain and all of the other multiple symptoms. But, thats one down.....lol

I really hope you'll try this. Its helped a lot of people.

    Gentle hugs,
    Mamie43

There was a time when the constant ache and sharp pains consumed me. I started doing easy slow stretching that I learned from a Physical Therapist. At first I would throw up while doing this. After time it got better and it has helped. My Doc also put me on Cymbalta which has helped control the pain. Though I still do a couple of other pain killers when I am working. I have read that Fibro can run in families though I don't know of anyone else in my family that has it.

I saw that you were from Southern Indiana. Are you close to Kentucky? I live in Henderson, just across the bridge from Evansville. Wouldn't that be a hoot if we were close to each other.

I was born in Spencer, Co. Indiana, close to Rockport. I've lived all over the US. been in Henderson for 27 years.

Would love to know where you're from.

I would like to thank everyone who thinks it is heridatary, I was told it was not and thought I was going crazy my mom also suffers from Fibro. For pain medication I am on nothing but Advil my doctor would not perscribe anything and this is the third doctor I have seen. I am going to have an MRI done for other problems and am going to start seeing a pain specialist so, hopefully it will get me where I want to do something. I have also, started walking when I can it seems to help some. I will try the relaxing tip and see it will help it can be very overwhelming so every little suggestion helps. Also, to the lady in Kentucky I am about an hour north of Kentucky in Orange County. Thanks to all

What helps me the most with my fibro pain is Cymbalta, Neurotin, and Zanaflex at bedtime to help me sleep.

but saw it was near Turkey Run. I've been there once it's really nice.

I have met a couple of people on this site. We arranged to meet in a public resturant, during the daytime. My oldest son said Mom don't be too friendly with those people someone could be a serial killer.

It's is so funny the first person I met, twin daughter's told her the same thing. LOL!

Glad to have you here, most everyone here is helpful. I don't post much but read occasionally.

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone that has responded with tips or just to say hi, its nice to have others that understand when others think your nuts, I think the walking is helping I feel more relaxed if I can just keep with it.
