I really need a sympathetic doctor who believes in CFS. The doctor referral on this website wasn't too helpful. Some numbers no longer in service. The few who were available don't accept my insurance plan and their fee is $200 to $300. I am applying for disablity, can't work anymore and really need CFS documentation. Please help if you can.

I am currently seeing Dr. Enlander who is in NYC and is a caring and helpful doctor. I have not had any experience as far as disability paper work is concerned with him, though. You could call his office to see if they accept your insurance and how they handle paperwork for disability.

His website is phone 212 794-2000. They are in the NYC office on Weds. and Thurs. They also have a location on Long Island.

I have also seen Dr. Susan Levine who is located in NYC in the east 70's. She wasn't really able to help much treating my illness (although she has helped others), but was extremely helpful in drafting a very effective letter regarding my state of disability and illness when I was being reviewed.

Another doctor in NYC is Dr. John Salerno. He is not a CFIDS specialist, like the former two that I mentioned, but is a doctor that takes a more holistic approach and is very warm, caring and does believe CFIDS and the devasting symptoms that exist. I do not have experience with him and CFIDS documentation. You could call and inquire.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Hi Jenniferann,
Thanks so much for your prompt and thorough reply. I am pretty sure that I called Dr. Enlander and if I remember correctly, he didnot take any insurance. I will call again though to be sure.
I visited Dr. Levine many years ago and you are right about her. If all else fails, I will call her again despite that her two offices are very difficult for me to get to.
    Thanks again!

Are you/can you get into Central Jersey for an appointment? If so - check out Dr. Gregory Rihacek. He has offices in Old Bridge and Somerset.

Let meknow if you need the phone number, my mom uses him for her primary. He's a rheum and a walking encyclopedia. Very compassionate and actually gives you the meds you need.

Moderator, Are we allowed to exchange contact info for doctors? Sorry for the email addy - it took a while to find the message board rules.

Thanks Rose, but Central Jersey is too far. I sure do appreciate your response though.
