My daughter in CO needs a good doc for FMS in the Denver area. I'm hoping someone here has found a good doc there. Thanks for your help.

    Hello!
I am new to the boards. I was just diagnosed with FM last week. I have had it for years and did not know what it was, and finally got a new doc to listen to me. Turns out I am not crazy after all. I was referred to a doctor at the Denver Arthritis Clinic. He is the one that gave the diagnosis, very nice and helpful.

I answered someone elses post last month. the doctor i metioned is in colrado springs, but well worth the drive.
her name is dr. bethany wallace. she is very knowledgable in fms/cfs. she treats her patients with respect, will do everything in her power to find the best medicine for her patients, she listents to her patients. she is the best doctor i have ever had. if it weren't for her and
god, i would not be here today. whenever i suggest something i read something on this board that sounds like it might work we discuss it and if she thinks it is a good idea she will try it. the only draw back is she runs behind schedule a little, but she always spends as much time with each patient as needed. her working hours are thursday and friday 8 am until 5pm i think (the office is open until 9 pm) sat. and sun she is there from 9 am to 5 pm. she is a D.O. there are about5 other doctors there. dr. charles johnson (it is his office) suffers from chronic pain so he also is a good understanding doctor. and dr. carrizel is a very open minded doctor (also in the same office) monday through friday office hours are 8 am to 9 pm.all doctors there are D.O.'s but those are the three i recommend.

if possible though dr. wallace is the best even though she does run behind alot, that is only because she gives her best to each and every patient, working through her lunch if need be.

she is the one who would not give up until she dx me. she refused togive up. it is only about 1 hour drive but worth it.
Sorry i just can't say enough good about her. i have a choice of getting back on medicaid and keeping my good specialist or keeping my new hmo medicaid and keeping her,
and having to go to denver (which i hate) for my specialist, but i know that she is one of the most informed doctors concerning fms that i know of.

as far as i can tell they take a good variety of insurences.

if your daughter gets in to see her, then maybe she can get her a rheumatoid arthrits dr.. in denver (she plans on doing that for me to help with some of the care.) since it seems better to have a pcp and a rheumy.

    hope this helps your daughter.

The practice is listed under DR. Charles Johnson
make sure she looks up under his name, because we also have a DR. stephanie wallace, and everyone here gets them confused. But if your daughter wants a good doctor who will respecther and listen to her have her try to get in to see dr wallace. or dr johnson. use dr. carrizel as a last measure (don't gget me wrong, i just think he is not quite as knowledgeable).

I will e-mail this info to my daughter. Right now, she has no insurance; she's in between jobs. She is considering Care Entree and most docs will take that. I really appreciate your help.

SHE PROBALLY COULD BE NOT BE ON BETTER HANDS. DR WALLACE LITTERALLY HAS SAVED MY LIFE 4 TIMESS, AND I MEAN ONCE IT WAS A PURE MIRACLE THAT SHE AND I WERE TOGETHER. THE ER DOC SAID THAT A FEW MORE HOURS, AND I PROBALLY WOULDN'T MAKE IT.

IF SHE CAN GET MEDICAID, SHE NEEDS TO CHOOSE COLORADO ACCESS, THAT IS THE ONLY TYPE OF MEDICAID THEY TSKE,WHCIH ISN;T TO BAD, MOST OF THE SPECIALST ARE IN DENVER, AND IF YOU GET A CARE COORDINATER, AND HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING A MED COVERED YOU JUST CALL YOU COORENATOR AND FOR THE MOST PART WITHIN 30 MINUTES IT IS APPORVED.

I am in Colorado Springs and believe me the only patients who have access to good care are those who have run of the mill issues. This leaves me at a disadvantage because I really cant drive to Denver. My hands hurt most of the time and when I am driving they get numb from being in the same position. I also tend to zone out and that concerns me when everyone around me is doing 80 mph on I-25.

I think I will have to move north closer to Denver eventually...big talk from someone who cant make her bed these days!

I wish there was some sort of shuttle between The Springs hospitals and the ones in Denver....Any ideas?

THE DOCTOR I AM TALKING ABOUT IS HERE IN COLORADO SPRINGS.ONCE AGAIN, I WILL SAY THAT IN ALL OF COLORADO THERE IS NO BETTER DOCTOR FOR FMS/CFS.
I SEE DR. BETHANY . WALLACE IN THE OFFICE, BUT I HEAR THAT DR. CHARLES JOHNSON IS VERY GOOD, ESPECIALLY SINCE HE IS A CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERER. THEIR PRACTICE IS ON PIKES PEAK ABOUT A MILE EAST OF UNION, AND SHE IS VERY GOOD, GIVE THEM A TRY, BEFORE MOVING TO DENVER. SHE IS GREAT, AND VERY UNDERSTANDING. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW IT TURNS OUT.

GOOD LUCK, AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL TRY DR, BETHANY WALLACE, OR DR. CHALES JOHNSON, NO MATTER WHO YOU TRY LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING.

ALSO, AS I TELL EVERYONE ELSE THE OFFICE HOURS ARE GREAT.
