Hi. I am new to this board and I am a sufferer from both fibro and Interstitial Cystitis, which is a painful bladder disease that often goes hand in hand with Fibro. I am currently taking Elavil and Neurontin which is helping with the pain symptoms but I am having a really big problems with the "fibro-fog" aspect. I am a telemarketer and I need concentration to do well at work. needless to say there are some days when this just aint happening. Do any of you guys have any suggestions since I am new to the fibro scene? Thanks Kira.

Hi Kira, welcome to our world. That fog is a real problem.

Mine has been a lot less lately, all I am doing different is taking 'Ultra B-Complex' from Pro Health (it is one of the few that does not interfere with my stomach),
drinking half my weight in ounces of water a day, and taking ZMA (zinc, magnesium and B-6) for sleep, also from Pro Health.

My husband and daughter are surprised how 'clean' my 'thinking' is again! I seem to have found all those lost items and words that have been giving me trouble for years.

I don't know for a fact that is what is helping, but I know that is what I had been doing different for the last 6 months.

Sure glad you have found our board, and am looking forward to getting to know you.

    Shalom, Shirl

Try taking some 'Awakening' by BodyAlive. It's a good early day pick me up and stay alert without caffeine.

Also try as high a dosage of B12 (injectable if possible) as you can get up to 10,000 mcg or more weekly, let's say.

    Good luck.

I really can't give you any advice, but just wanted to welcome you to the board. You will find plenty of very knowledgeable people here, ready to help with any questions you may have. As you have already found, from the above posts. Fibro-fog can be the worst! But sometimes I wonder if it isn't the by-product of some of the drugs our doctors put us on.
Good luck in finding what helps you! And again, welcome!

which way do i go, where have i been, how did i get here??? somedays i can never answer them questions....just take each day as it comes, it will always be a surprise...in fact just this morning i got out a cup to make me a cup of tea, i put in the teabag, put it in the microwave and sat back and waited for a nice hot cup of tea....DUH ME!!! I FORGOT to add the dang water so I ended up with a broken mug and a torn about teabag, but hey...the microwave still works and my heart does too cuz it sure did a little dance when the cup exploded in the microwave

I do some of the stupidest things when I'm in a fog. So, I stay home away (so I don't hurt myself, LOL) from society (so I don't embarass myself) and pretend I had a few drinks and got that way on purpose. With fog comes much laughter. It is rough in the beginning, but laughter makes it much easer.
I have started on B-Complex, Milk Thistle, Magnesium and a couple of others and have found they do help. I haven't had any really bad days lately.

Like most everyone else i also have the fog...though those around me call it my coma. Most days i do good, but there are times when i feel i'm losing my mind. I get words all jumbled up and easily forget what a word means. It makes people think i'm quite stupid...even though i have two degrees. It just takes me longer to process things. My boyfriend, who's mom also has Fibro, has made me learn to not take things so seriously. Now if i can just get the rest of the people around me to see this...

last year i started taking sam e for the fibrofog. it is also good for depression and joint problems. i had to stop using it because it makes bipolar people manic and i'm bipolar. but the month i took it for i definitely had an improvement in my mind function. cindi

I, for one, don't think that the meds CAUSE the fog...I have often abstained from meds for long periods to take a "drug holiday" and the fogs are worse without meds. I can't remember which came first initially, however....

I've had fibro literally all of my life and never had fog til this year.... amazing huh????? I'm trying natural sleep remdedies and magnesium. I also think exercise helps me. I know I know,,, its hard to exercise!! I couldn't do it at first either and woulda died if you had said this to me in january!!!!! LOL>>> but I laugh at it and work at it and don't let it get me down....
I want to tell you this too... I had a wexler memory scale done by a psychologist yesterday and I felt like I wasn't clear. I had to return home twice after I originally left to claim items necessary for my trip ... haha.. anyway, he told me he thought I did well! I was amazed!! I couldn't remember alot of the things he told me to repeat to him.. but he told me I function at the top 10% anyway!!! Like I said I was amazed!!! I suppose and he agreeed that I musta been in the top 2 or 3% memory wise when I am clear !!!! It is no doubt frustrating. I've decided to clean up my act with a daytimer and the use of routines but I have no clue how long it will last. hahahaha
I too believe in the water thing.... one cup of cafiene and then its at least 100 oz water of day!!!! guess it may help more than I know! Good luck!

Hi, glad you are here. I just found this place last month.

Believe me, I can relate. However, my family (in-laws, mostly, who try to tarnish my husband) is convinced that I am strung out from my meds. I do take a lot drugs but I also have tried the "drug free" cycles and I was worse if you can beleive that.
Unfortunately as everyone else has said, it's all part of the deal from this DD.
Some days I can't even put together a sentence to answer anyone's questions. End up some where w/o a clue how I got there. Drop my son off @ preschool, forget to pick him up ( only once, thank God). Remote in the pantry, writing out checks for bills and not mailing them until I find them, 3 weeks later...the list could go on...
Sorry, no advice but, just try to hang in there, and KNOW you are not alone. That in itself has helped me the most! As I've said a hundred times, sometimes it isn't worth defending myself, people are going to believe what they want...
