    Hello, all,

I have not been on the board for a couple months because I was doing so well, thanks to all the help from the folks on the CFS/Fibro board and this board. Came back about a week ago just to see what was going on.

However! My husband has bipolar disorder (and CFS/Fibro too), which has been well-controlled for many years. Over the past three months, he's been building up slowly into a full-blown manic episode, and I didn't see it coming until about 10 days ago. Woe is me. We've been to the doctor 5 times in the last 9 days.

He's been on two different meds to bring him down to normal. The first one swelled his face and eyes up (and didn't help). The second one is taking its sweet time to work, even on a double dose. The doctor has double-dosed him on all his usual psych meds, and he's still like a runaway freight train. All revved up, socially inappropriate, can't sleep, can't shut up, concrete thinking, impulsive, flighty -- Yet, business must go on!

I feel like I have to follow him around like some parent running behind a kid learning to ride a new bike. We cannot afford for him to mess things up for himself, if you know what I mean. I'm exhausted, angry, frustrated, sorrowful, and I'd just like to get in my truck and drive away. Much more of this and *I* am the one who's gonna end up in the hospital.

When one gets to the point that they are screaming at the husband they love, it's time to ask the prayer warriors for some support.

I would really appreciate your prayers.

Honey, I will absolutely pray for you to get through this. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. May God grant you the strength to deal with this and give you peace and rest.

This is a wonderful place to come when you are in need of comfort and prayer.

    God bless

I'm so sorry that you are going through so much, I know that it has to be extremely stressful for you.

I will certainly be praying for that the Lord will provide you with the strength that you need to get through this.

Last night my husband got 8 full, uninterrupted hours of sleep and woke up more calm and connected. That's the most sleep he's had in about three weeks -- he had been getting 3 hours or less.

He's been a real pleasure today. He's not "revving" any more. He still can't shut up, but he's better!

And I woke up rested and peaceful today. Thank God for answering prayer!

    Bless you all,

    Hi suzbee,
I partially understand your suffering b/c I did one of my clinicals in a psych hospital. I got to see first-hand what people with bipolar and many other illnesses suffer. It's an extremely difficult illness to deal with. I really want to commend you for sticking by your husband's side and helping him. He is very blessed to have you in his life.

Lord, Bless Suzbee today with an ourpouring of strength and a knowledge of your love for her. Help her to see and know you better b/c you are the source of our strength and help when life is way too much to handle on our own. Pour our an abundance of grace on their marriage to handle the challenges they face. Lord, as we know you are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, I pray that you would bring forth healing and hope into their lives for a bright future.

We had another excellent day, and some good nitty-gritty discussions.

Oh yey, bipolar is certainly an interesting affliction, which strikes geniuses and lamebrains both alike. :)

I thank God for His grace.
