How do you stretch? I'd like to know your basic routine and how often you do it. And where! Do you have a good DVD or video to recommend? Any tips or tricks welcome! Thanks!

There is an incredibly good, free online physical therapy class called the "Heal Thyself" series by Liam Keever. I suggest googling it!

It contains stretches for the entire body, as well as descriptions of how muscles work.

I recommend the video "Yoga for the Rest of Us" by Peggy Cappy. It's been featured on TV (PBS) and looks like it might be what you're looking for. Cappy starts out with warm-up stretches and modifies standing Yoga poses so that they can be done with a chair. One can do either one 20-minute segment, or the entire workout at one time.

Tai Chi also is great. I recently started a class, and definitely feel better afterwards. It is also very gentle and meditative. Qi Gong is a related and even gentler routine.

This is the book that my Bone & Joint specialist uses. Mr. Anderson is not a doctor but he has the clearest illustrations on stretches and where you feel the stretch. Its been printed in over 16 languages.

My main problems are with my neck, shoulders, upper and lower back oh yeah, and those hips!

The physical therapist showed me some exercises. I also have a book geared for arthritis patients that shows a lot of stretches.

I stretch every day, usually at least a couple of times a day and throughout the day as needed. I try to get up and walk around the halls. I sit at a desk at work and need to move around more.

I don't know how to describe my exercises, I don't know the names of them, sorry.

I do have a prenatal yoga tape I can do portions of.

I can also do the Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds tapes.

Have you checked the Arthritis Foundations website?

You've given lots of good suggestions! Lots of good websites, DVD & video names and books. I've done some yoga over the years, and maybe I need to pick up the more gentle form now. It was always kind of hard for me before.

I always feel so tight. I try to stretch a bit before I get out of bed in the morning (how's that for lazy!), but I think I need more than just that.

I really appreciate your help. Now I just need to put it into action and STRETCH!
