As I have mentioned before, Grandma will be 104 next month. Mom is determined to keep her at home if at all possible. She is having trouble using utensils now and we would like to maintain some motor skills so we are looking for any finger type foods. Does anyone know of a sweet tasting nutrition bar that is good? Any recipes for something like that? Anything we wouldn't think of as finger food that is nutritious? We still want her to get her nutrition and keep the use of her hands. We already use chicken nuggets, cooked carrots and the normal things you would think of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My dh lives on cereal bars and granola bars. Then there are veggies that can be cut up and eaten; carrots, celery...

wraps - tortilla shells w/thinly sliced meat & cheese & veggies.

You can make them as thin as you want - roll them tight & cut them into small pieces.

My mother makes a veggie pizza. Basically it is crescent roll dough which is baked in triangle shaped pieces, then you spread a cream cheese and ranch mix on top and then place various small pieces of veggies on top. If you use light cream cheese, it's pretty good for you!

Hard boiled egg cut into quarters lengthwise.

Tortillini or ravioli, allowed to cool enough to not burn fingers, but still fairly warm.

If her teeth and digestion will handle them:
Hummas and grated carrot make a good tortilla roll-up.

Celery cut in to bite sized pieces and filled with peanut butter, hummas, cheese spread, flavored cream cheese, tuna salad, shrimp salad or whatever else you can think of.

    Hi Carol,

Take a look in the baby food section. There is a whole line of finger foods for toddlers. She might even have fun with food shaped like dinosaurs!

How wonderful to have such great genes in your body, too!

    Take care!

Try the appetizer section of your cookbooks. Most of that stuff is finger food, soft, and doesn't make a whole lot (just in case she doesn't like leftovers).
