So, I did see my doctor again for the second time (this would be the third instance of dealing with him due to a phone call).

The visit started off okay until he said, "I gurantee you that if you exercise at a heart rate of 140 bpm for 30 secs a day, every day, until the next time we see each other, a month from now, you will feel MUCH better." Not an exact quote and that was his emphasis on "much".

*scratches head* Wow. I guess they sometimes really don't hear a thing you say in previous visits . . . or why I am being treated! You see, I have been trying to play raquetball for the past 1 and 1/2 years (used to be a tournament player) and I have realized that my quad tendons are in serious pain. He sent me to a PT during my last visit because I was "running before I was walking". I am not even going to dignify that with a comment.

He also asked, "What exactly is bothering you the most? I realize that you have a lot of symptoms but I just want to see if you say what I have written down." Yes, I started to list ALL of my symptoms and then he stopped me. Looking frustrated he said, "what is it that you want me to help you with today?" I had bad fog going that day . . . but I did say, "disorientation, dizziness, comprehension, etc."

Long story short, he said, "let me run this by 5 other doctors. Hang on". I'm not kidding. He left the room and came back 5-10 minutes later and said, "I do not know what to say. There is nothing that I can do for you. Have you ever seen a specialist?" Assuming he meant a neurologist, I said yes. (That is what he meant.) Again, a frustrated look. I ran down all of the tests from the past (and I'll say AGAIN - does anyone ever look at the past medical records?!).

He referred me to "The Balance Institute. He said, "They are better equipped to handle people with my problems". What is The Balance Institute, was my thought. Turns out that they specialize with people have have "balance" problems. Such as inner ear. He said that he would see me in a couple of months and wished me the best of luck. He was truly perplexed.

Also, he had in his notes, he later told me, that I was to be on .5 mg of klonopan/day as opposed to my current 1.75mg/day. He later said, I don't want you to change your meds right now with you current intolerance to drug changes (based on my reports to him and our little experiments the last two times). Yay! He listened to me. Small victory.

Wish me luck at The Balance Institute next week. I can honestly say that I have never been diagnosed with an inner ear problem but what the heck. Not sure if it could explain seizure-like symptoms but I'll give it a try.

Other random memories from the visit:

When I mentioned that I used to take B-12 shots: "That is not how we do it anymore".

When I mentioned seeing someone who works with Chinese herbs and accupuncture: "Accupuncture is okay but the herbs are not helpful".

Oh, there's other but I can't recall right now.

I awakened at 5 AM (jolt, electroctution feeling with headache after 3 hours sleep) to write this messag ;) Must be the inner ear problem ;)

    Talk to you soon,

Hi Richard , This guy sounds like he's not going to help you at all .Maybe he just needs to see you a few more times before he gets the picture .In the mean time you'll be suffering.I'm really sorry you are feeling so bad ,and can't seem to get any help. I'd really start looking for another Doc. if at all possible. I hope this turns around for you soon. GodBless Danisue
