HBOT or hyperbaric oxygen therapy offers help for a wide range of problems and diseases. PLEASE do your own investigation. You will be AMASED as I was.

Some folks have posted about their experiences with hyperbaric chambers... positive experiences and Jill Neimark wrote an article about how much her home hyperbaric chamber helped her (posted on teh home page)

But the problem is the expense. Have you taken a couple of sessions or gone the whole hog, and bought a home system?

Just sounded kind of infomercially in your post. If not, I'm sure we'd all like some details on the benefits for FM or CFS, since that's what we're here for.

I am seeing a new doctor who mentioned this to me. He says it helps people with fibro. Believe me, I'm not selling anything - I never even saw one of these. I don't know if I'll try it or not. I'm interested - has anyone tried it?

If you are talking about the oxygen bars that are rearing up in the US, I have tried it once and I didn't notice anything different. Maybe it takes more than trying it one time but it sure is expensive and I know I won't be trying it again.

    Just my 2c worth.

I am currently undergoing the 18th session today, 12 Sept 2005. Have been looking to buy one, just because the treatment costs ($172.50/1.5 hour session) are so high.
The benefits are worth it, no matter what. I suffer from Late Stage Lyme Babesia, and was dam near dead. Still am very sick, but improving.
I DO NOT have a "nickle invested in them" nor do I sell them.[This Message was Edited on 09/12/2005]
They feed you pure oxygen under PRESSURE. The bacteria cannot live when exposed to a pure oxygen environment.

Sorry your post was met with criticsm TRTREXLER. I didn't find it threatening at all. Just saw that you were trying to let everyone know of something you are trying that may be helping you. I don't know anything about it and somehting like that is not in my near future to be trying but THANK YOU for the inormation. It is up to us to take what we need and leave the rest. I would do my own research before attacking someone's post. I did not feel you were trying to "sell" anything.

Hang in There and best of luck with the treatment you are trying. Hope it helps.

I don't think anyone is offering up hyperbaric chambers as a cure-all... but there does seem to be some anecdotal evidence that a session in one of these chambers can alleviate symptoms of CFS presumably by getting oxygen to oxygen-deprived cells and tissue.

It may be more beneficial than that for folks with Lyme disease. Check out Jill Neimark's article in the Library section.

Others have posted on this website about their experiences with hyperbaric chambers....and many hyperbaric chambers now market their services directly to people with CFS and a host of other disorders I have noticed...

I for one am looking into the possibility of having a session or 2... if it helped improve my cognitive abilities even in the short-term, it might pay for itself by allowing me to do more freelance work.

Would be interested to know if anyone has got their insurance to pay for it? (hope springs eternal....)

just wanted to make clear that I really know v. little about these chambers and how they can help lyme sufferers, but Jill Neimark raves about it in her piece.

Also, I phoned the guy who sold her her home chamber, and he says the smallest one costs $10,000 new.. but he offers payment schemes and says there's no trouble finding a buyer when/if you decide to sell.

Believe his name is Lance Brubaker.. or the net doctor.. based in Atlanta..and co-runs a clinic down there specialising in treatment of lyme disease.

Don't have the website ....but u could probably find it thru google.

HBOT is working slowly, probably because I was so sick.
FYI Lyme has the capability to spread thru the whole body and even invade individual cells to hibernate and avoid detection by the immune system. Several books have suggested Lyme may be spread thru unprotected sex, ie the semen which contains the spirochete. Dr. Ben Anderson claims to have found the Lyme bacteria in any number of bodily fliuds.
My former girlfriend developed CF and F, and I am very likely the scource. Did not know it back then, but...
The major problem is the test for Lyme is very nebulous to say the least. I tested negative, numerous times with numerous test labs until IGeneX did the testing.
Some people call this "the next aids".
I read many articles online and own 2 books. Everything points to a positive and safe experience. My personal experience bears that out.
    Get well and enjoy.

Wasn't trying to jump to conclusions abt you selling anything, but your profile had no info, and neither of your posts had any personal info at all, just raving about a particular product.
I'm so glad you've gotten relief from this therapy...we all need to share with each other what works!
I'm just sketchy about being on a message board that gets infiltrated by vendors, because then you never know what to believe, and I think all of us have gotten taken in by some "miracle cure" at some point bc we're all so desperate for help.
This is interesting info so far, will definitely look into it further. Thanks for the info, and sorry to jump to conclusions! You know what they say about when you "assume"! lol

I updated the Profile. Thanks for the "heads up".
Normal oxygen is only carried by red blood cells. HBOT uses pressure, up to 2.3 Atmos to effectively make all body fluids "carriers" of oxygen. This allows the oxygen to penetrate deeper and kill of the bacteria better.
    Get well and enjoy.

I have Late Stage Lyme Babesia. On drugs for 18 months and going backward until I found HBOT. Found the experience pleasant and IT WORKS! Slow improvement but steady.
    Get well and enjoy.
