Aloha from the land of rainbows
Got a new doctor at Kaiser she is my 4th this year, but she plans on staying. Hard when they keep switching my doctors.
Anyway to make a long story short she put me on new meds.
Flexeril a muscle relaxer which I take when I go to bed.
It is working. I have used it two nights and it works. I slept.
The other med is Salsalate. I take this one as needed.
Does anyone out there know about these meds?

All so looking for a support group in Hawaii.

Salsalate is a salicylate as is aspirin. "Worst Pills Best Pills" suggests that it not be used because it has no advantage over enteric-coated aspirit and is more expensive.

Flexeril is a muscle relaxant and in the same family as the antidepressant, Elavil. Both can really pack on the pounds in a very short time period. Most docs don't even know about this side effect let alone tell Their patients about it. "Worst Pills Best Pills" also says to not use this drug as they find it ineffective for pain. It does cause drowsiness and many like it for that, but I found it did not increase the quality of my sleep and left me groggy in the mornings. I put on 20 pounds on it.

Sorry for the bad news here. Finding what works for us is an individual thing and these meds may well work fine for you. It's trial and error finding what works for us as individuals.

    Love, Mikie
