Thank you so much for your kind words!

Your husband sounds like a very wise man. And, I totally understand feeling "too fidgety". I was too fidgety too! Meditation is really good for the fidgety! I love the word "fidgety".

I'd love to talk more about this but I'm very sloooooowwwww moving today. May I come back to this thread tomorrow or the next day? I hope you are saying yes!

Peace to you, my fidgety friend,
    Rafiki

PS I just looked at your profile. You found the "love of your life"! Isn't that wonderful! You know, my kids could really use meditation but it's sometimes hard to "get" this stuff from people who are really close to you. Maybe we could make a deal... I'll help you along and your wise man can help my kids;~) If only!

Ok, this formerly fidgety person is going to bed.

WHAT DO YOU WANT DONE? MY HUSBAND WORKS FOR THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TALKING TO KIDS ABOUT WHAT THEY CAN DO AND NOT

TO HONE ONTO THE WHAT THEY CANT, HE PIONEERED THE PROGRAM
AND ADVOCATES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISSABILITY IN THE COMMUNITY

NOT THAT ITS BEEN A SUCCESS! SOCIETY WANT ALL TO BE PERFECT
WHEN YOU ARE OLD YOU ARE DISCARDED INTO A NURSING HOME AWAY FROM SOCIETY AS ARE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

Connie, your husband seems like a really wonderful man. You are a very lucky woman to have found him.

I will read the thread you suggested. I'd very much like to know more about you.

I was joshing (mostly) about your beloved helping my kids. I was referring to their unwillingness to meditate even though it would help them so much! Aside from some very normal growing pains (in their 20s & 30s... no expiration on growing pains, it seems) and some painful ADD/ADHD issues they are doing very well. Of course, they'd do better with meditation but they'd have to learn it from someone else. Don't know why that is with kids but it is.

It's getting hot again where I live and, like the bad witch, I melt in the heat. (Ok, for her it was water.) The good thing is that even though I'm melting, I'm melting, I do not suffer emotionally very much when symptoms worsen which helps -- I stay pretty chill, so to speak -- because of my meditation practice. Not giving the physical symptoms any emotional fuel helps more than I can say.

Oh dear, it's cruel of me to say something like that and not share the hows of it!

I ask for your indulgence, once again, as you really don't want to get garbled or confusing information about something which is, in essence, simplicity itself. I promise to pull myself together and get into this discussion ASAP even if it means taking my laptop into the fridge to write! I'm thinking that ASAP will not be today unless Global Cooling kicks in might quick.

Clerty, have you seen any dolphins lately?

    Peace to the sassy Redheads!

HEY LOVEY, NICE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU, I AGREE WITH KIDS PART, I HAVE 3 BOYS 25, 28, 30, THE ELDEST STILL LIVING AT HOME, UNFORTUNATLY maybe? I LOVE THEM DEARLY BUT AT THIS

TIME OF MY LIFE I NEED MY KIDS TO BE INDEPENDENT, I KNOW THEIR JOURNEY HAS BEEN DIFFICULT AND AM TOTALLY AWARE THAT SSOMEOF US BEINGS TAKE LONGER TO BECOME AWARE OF TEH GOOD

THINGS QUICKER THAN OTHERS. MY ELDEST BOYS HAVE BEEN AND STILL ARE INVOLVED WITH DRUGS AND I BELIEVE IT HAS STUNTED THEIR EMOTIONAL GROWTH

IT HAS TAKEN ME AWHILE TO REALISE THAT YOUR KIDS DONT TAKE ON YOUR VALUES BECAUSE THEY ARE YOUR KIDS ALTHOUGH MY YOUNGEST SEEMS TO HAVE MORE SO AND THE MIDDLE ONE ALSO

SHOWS SIGNS AT BEING KIND TO ALL HUMANITY, SO ALL IS NOT LOST. BUT WE AS HUMAN BEINGS TEND TO BE NEGATIVE AND OFTEN FOCUS ON THAT ONLY....

ENOUGH ABOUT THAT, ALTHOUGH I MUST SAY I HAVE WORKED IN MAIN STREAM SCHOOLS FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS PRIMARILY TO

KEEP KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS OUT OF SPECIALISTS SETTINGS AND SO UNDERSTAND A LITTLE OF ADD/ADHD......

I WOULD SO LOVE TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO MEDITATE, MY HUSBAND COMES HOME FRAZZLED GOES AND MEDITATES FOR 30 MINUTES AND COMES OUT A DIFERENT PERSON, YAH I SAY......

OK ENOUGH, AM SO TIRED AND CANT DO ANYMORE OF THIS......
TILL NEXT TIME I WISH YOU LOVE N ANGEL HUGS

I LOVE WHALES AND HAVE ORGANISED FOR MY ASHES TO BE SCATTERED AT A CERTAIN BEACH IN OZ WHERE THE WHALES COME WITH THEIR YOUNG!!!!!!

I LOVE THE WATER BUT HATE BEING IN IT, AM SCARED OF THE DEEP......

WISH THEY HAD SMILEY FACES ON THIS SITE

    ((((((HUGS TO YOU BOTH))))))))))))))
PS MY RED ISNT REAL LIKE CLERTYS HER IS NATURAL LUCKY THING!!!!!

Connie, I'm sure you are a real redhead in spirit. Few of us have glorious manes like Clerty's without a little help. Ok, a lot of help!

I cannot understand why I'm having so much trouble writing about meditation!!! I'm so, so sorry! My brain is very mushy these days but I have managed to squeak out a few posts on this and that. Why not this??? This is one of my favourite topics!

Part of the problem is that I know how quickly someone can get turned off and I also know how incredibly helpful it can be. I don't want to turn you off by stumbling, awkwardly, through an explanation. That would be awful! AWFUL!

So, I still can't do it... argh! I have actually attempted to do so a few times and simply had to stop and meditate instead!

    This is the darndest thing!

I think it's because it is a systematic process... the doing and the explaining... and the executive functioning part of my brain (organizing, prioritizing, etc.) is totally offline at the moment.

Funny thing is, were you sitting in my living room and prompting me with questions I'd have very little trouble.

Thank goodness I've worked on my mind because my brain is shot!

    Peace and patience please,
    Rafiki

I wrote that post and totally forgot that I wanted to respond to yours about grown-up kids!

By the by, I, too, worked with special needs kids when I was very young. It's very enjoyable, gratifying and sometimes difficult work, isn't it.

Sorry you had to deal with drug problems with your kids. I escaped having to deal with that but dealt with other issues related to coping and soothing the self.

I still find it hard to accept that my kids are their own people and will go through their own stuff just like everyone else in the world. Somehow, one thinks that these will be the people who will be spared because we'll spare them! ha!

And, yeah, growing up seems to happen much more slowly these days. My kids are turning the corner, one at a time, and becoming people who are sometimes there to help rather than there always to be helped. It's so good to see that happen! Doesn't seem to happen much before the late 20s these days.

Ah well, we live so much longer, it's not surprising that we mature more slowly. I seem to remember my parents telling me they were totally independent and sending money home to their poor old parents by the time they were 12 ;~)

    Peace out,

Sorry that you are having a rough go, Clerty. I was happy to read elsewhere that the Xanax helped a bit. I hope you feel better soon!

Connie, I though you were saying that you were not going to go to the site and thought I had convinced you that the Universe did not want you to meditate!!! You can imagine my relief when I got to the end of your post!

yes, I know of the great guru Sai Baba. He was an amazing character and is considered a great saint in India. He was truly extraordinary and, once again, your husband is a very wise man!

I hope you enjoy the site! It's good that there is a source for information on how to meditate when ill and when you think you can't... which is almost everyone all the time!

    Peace to you both!

    Clerty,
So sorry that you've been struggling so much lately! I wish I had something useful to say but I've pushed myself into a bit of a mess, as well! This too shall pass!

I hope you continue to find the Xanax helpful. There have been quite a few threads and posts about it lately.

Thinking good thoughts about things turning around for you!

    Connie,

Did you check out the link re meditating when ill? I hope you did! But, as you know, most of us feel a great deal of resistance to meditation. Before we start to practice we truly do believe that we are THE ONE PERSON who couldn't possibly do it!

As someone who got over my decades of resistance (I was convinced that I WAS THAT ONE PERSON), I can attest to the fact that it works and is helpful no matter what ails one.

I do hope that you read the information on the site!

    Peace out, girls,
    Rafiki
