that seems connected to hips and down to knee. Sort of a stabbing deep muscle pain. Well I am getting all kinds of new pains and problems all of a sudden. This pain seems untouched by my regular pain reliever of ultracet. The doc did order an mri of something.

I've had the thigh pain, too, along with many other places. I've had the deep, stabbing muscle pain your describe. I was also on Ultracet for a long time and it never helped me either not even when my doctor doubled my dosage.

I finally found a really good FMS doctor who has me on Kadian, which is morphine. I take a pretty low dose - 30 mg. twice a day. Of course there are the side effects, but I have those pretty well under control now (nausea and constipation).

I generally have no trouble from fibro in my thighs. I have some twitches and jerks but that's from my movement disorder.

Recently they hurt after I lie down at night. It's "just" a deep muscle ache.

    neghtngale:

I get a pain in either thigh (right or left).
What I do is sit down until it passes: no matter how long it takes.

Mine is actually worse when I sit! And when I lay down at night I cannot get comfy. Guess it is time for more tests the rheumy said something about getting an mri cause my hips hurt too but never called my pcp with the referral. So back to square one.

Yup, get it. I put a hot pack. It will go away and go somewhere else on me.

((((((((( hugs ))))))))) I get that too. I try to prop/elevate leg and apply heat. Massage is great if you have someone around. I have a massage cat, but she only works when she wants to ... lol. I have no one and cannot afford massage. I have several of those massage pads but they are soooooooo noisy. I do use them at times when my nerves can tolerate the noise.

I am making a list of all of my issues (in writing) to give to my new Rheumy. I need to start a joural but I am so confused and in a fog I forget and when I remember I am too tired. lol NO MORE Xcuses ... I am going to get my journal right now! Take care and I hope you feel better.

Meralgia Paresthetica. I got this after my horse accident. The upper right thigh -- kinda toward the side. It is not fun. I've read a couple of articles in Woman's magazines and they say it is prominent in pregnant women, girls who wear tight hip huggers, and something else. (brainfog!)

I had an MRI of my right hip and it didn't show anything. I read about it online in another support board, and diagnosed myself, and when I went to see the Neurosurgeon, I told him what I had, and he pressed on my hip to generate the BIG pain sensor, and he said, "you're right. You should become a doctor." He wasn't sarcastic about it either. I'd Dx myself, and my husband, and I'm generally 99% right.

Anyway, where the horse fell on me (right hip/pelvis), is what caused mine.

    Good luck,
    Kristen

For 2 months straight, pain in my left thigh. Hurts like you know what. Also, swelling in both feet, ankles and legs. Doctor said take Lasex (fluid pill). Didn't think I could ever pee so much. Pain still in my left thigh. Did an ultrasound which came back fine.

See doctor Monday... cannot do much about it know because I'm heading home to Massachusettes. My mother has been diagnosed with Cancer (see post from a week or so ago.).

No matter how I feel, I've got to get home from Florida, with no one at all to help me.

Anyone hear of that? Anyway I had the mris today of right hip and lumber spine. Started Jan. 13. Hope its not that. I read up on it. Sounds creepy. Still wondering about the Meralgia thingy but rheumy said that would be more tingly numb feeling.

My mom who is totally healthy compared to me just started getting thigh pain when lying down, she is 70 and can walk a mile. Anyway she had an xray and they said it was arthtitis and she has to do PT> forgot to ask if they gave her meds.

I get stabbing thigh pain every late winter, early spring. It gets so bad I can barely walk, just pull my legs along. Aches when I lay down. Told my specialist many times and no answer. It seems like a very deep stabbing pain. It has gone away as the weather dries with summer every year (I'm counting 12 so far!). If anyone does get a proper diagnoses, it would be very interesting to hear it. alternating ice/heat paks, meds and rest help.

Any of you guys taking statins? They can cause muscle pains (I have heard and read about).

My thigh and hip are killers. My right thigh hurts, also, but nothing like my left. I am going to look up some of the ailments listed here.

Thank you so much for starting this thread.

    Hope you are doing better.

One doc checking for avascualar necrosis and other one thinks its trochanteric bursitis of hip or ITB syndrome. I found an article on the second mentioned and it mentions fibromayalgia! I had googled "pain in thigh when sitting."I will let you know what the mri shows. Or which dx is right or whatever the case may be. I had already switched rheumys then the first one finally faxxed in the mri reqest so I went the same day and had it done. The new rheumy doesn't know that. What the heck do I say? I had mentioned I switched back to him cause first one was trying to dump my care back on my primary, but I kept pushing for the mri. Im tired of fooling around! My older rheumy said if Pt doesn't help cortisone shots may be next.Im going nuts.

I've been having the same symptoms about six weeks now. My PCP is treating me for T. bursitis. She put me on a packet of steroids and I'm starting phys. therapy this week. The steroids has reduced the pain, but my right hip and lower back is throbbing.
