    Hi everybody ---

I just found this post by Rockgor; it was at the end of my last pic thread. I copied it, and made a new post. Hope you don't mind, Rock!!

Have fun guessing -- I'm going to google now!

    Hugs, Diane

    Hi Diane

I don't mind at all. The poor thing was just sitting there ignored like
Little Orphan Annie before Daddy Warbucks came along.

Speaking of which, do you remember Harve Presnell, the male
lead in the Unsinkable Molly Brown movie? He was also in many other
Broadway musicals and films. I saw him and Debby Reynolds in
the Un. Sink. M. B. on stage in Long Beach in the 80s.

Harve also played Daddy Warbucks in the musical Annie and its
sequel. Reportedly played the part over 1000 times. He must have
been able to do it in his sleep.

    tomorrow there'll be sun."

    Hi Rock,

I have a guess for number 5. I'm not sure though.

I searched and searched musical instruments -- and found Dobro guitars, some say "steel"; some say "squareneck resonator". ??

Is number 2 a Cashmere Goat??

I don't think I've seen any movies with Harve Presnell. And I've never seen ANNIE, but some day I'll watch it. :)

    That's it for now.

    Great pics, Rock.

#4 looks like some sort of loom. ?

    Hi Kids

    You're both right!

The goat is a Kashmir goat. I guess the knitting process changes the
    spelling for the sweater.

And no. 4 is a loom. My neighbor used to have one. She and her
husband where very old, but also very healthy and very active.
She had a small room off the kitchen. Her loom took up almost
all the space. She made rag rugs. My mother sent me over from time
to time to bring her old clothes to transform with her loom.

The guitar is a dobro. The metal plate in the middle is a resonator
which gives the instrument a somewhat metallic sound. You can
find several dobro videos on Youtube. Or search for "the sound of
    the dobro" on the net".

Good guesses, GB. Number one is a hitching post. In the old West they
    looked like this. [IMG]

But there are also individual posts. Sometimes in the shape of a jockey.

Probably helps to have played in a band to identify number 6. It's only
about 6-7 inches long. It's a mute for a trumpet. There are also videos
on line showing how the mute changes the sound.

I guess number three is the only pic left. I thought it would be the
most easily recognized. It's the outdoor pool at San Simeon. and here
is the inside pool. According to the guide, the tiles are made with real gold.
