Its been a long time since I've posted. However, I wanted to post this because as a person with Fibro, I have become conditioned to ignore lots of new pains that I may feel.

Early Sunday morning I had a mini stroke, its hard to describe the pain I felt in my head, it was very intense, after about 6 minutes it eased off, I talked to my docs office, they advised me to call 911, I ignored there advice, I didn't want to feel crazy or embarassed if it turned out to be nothing.

This was the wrong decision. It turned out I had a mini stroke...I was lucky. I go for more testing Thursday, then on to a Neuro, to find out why it happened and how to prevent another one. I'm scared, because when there is one there can be more and even a major stroke in the future, I am 37 years old, so this is kind of shocking.

Please, please...get new things checked out immediately if necessary, do not be afraid to be checked out and it be JUST Fibro.

Very good for you Gina. I'm happy for you. In the beginnings of FM I was going to the doc all the time it seemed, but now, like most of us, I have quit because it seems like everything is related to FM. I will most certainly take this to heart. Thank you for informing us - and keep us posted on your condition. I hope all goes well with your studies.

I'm so sorry this happened to you but thank you for posting this very important warning.

Please keep us updated on what happens next as to the cause of the TIA.

    You doing ok? Kids ok?

for the responses and Nancy, thankfully the kids were sleeping at a friends house, it was just my husband and I. Unfortunately, this has scared the daylights out of them and we have instructed the oldest two on what to do for me if this were to happen again. When it happened, I could not talk.

The scariest part is that I was denied myself immediate treatment, there are many other very serious things that can happen to us and its not ok, to not get checked and say , its just the fibro.

Right now we are just trying to get through the testing and going from there. Take that asprin! I have been instructed if it happens again to immediately take a baby asprin, I've told the girls how to disolve it and get it into me if this happens again and call 911, there is only a 2 hour window to get the meds. in that help prevent stroke damage, even though I have no outward signs of a stroke, the brain still gets damaged in a mini stroke. I'm hoping the Neuro I see can put the pieces together and prevent it from happening again.

I am blessed, next time I might not be!

this was a mini stroke and you are okay. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Seems i over look symptoms thinking its just another Fibro thing.

Your posting will make many not overlook symptoms anymore and take a asprin daily.

So young at 37 for this to happen to you. Take care

    Wish you well

Don't be too hard on yourself for not seeking medical attention right away. We all do that sort of thing all the time! I have several issues I need to see about which could be very serious, but since the symptoms are not there "all" the time, I guess it's easier to blame the FM or be in denial than to go again and be told once more there's "nothing" wrong.

So, you know now what to look for, and are seeing a specialist...good for you!! I wish you the very best also. PLUS you reminded all of us to not take things so lightly....another good for you!!!

Best wishes, and prayers coming your way for you and your family....Jole

I'm glad you're doing well after this scare. My father had several of these throughout his 80's, along w some other moderate strokes. He had HIGH blood pressure and had numerous related problems. His 6 siblings also had the same health problems.

Sorry, not trying to scare you, I'm just worried about possibly having them myself someday. My BP is quite low, so that's one good thing I have going for me.

I was wondering how you felt when this happened. I was never present when my dad had his, but my mom said he just kind of zoned out, was confused, eyes out of alignment.

Maybe it would help someone if you could tell us a little more about your experience. Take care of yourself, and thank goodness you're doing well!

Thank you for replying. I was alert during mine, I had a sudden sharp stapping pain below my right temple in an area about the size of a half dollar. The sharp pain stayed and kept increasing pressure and lasted for about 5 to 8 min. I thought I would die if it did not stop immediately!!! When it eased off it went into a pulsing type pain...a little stronger than a throb. During that 5 to 8 min. window, I could not talk, I tried, but I couldn't get anything out. My husband was trying to get me to talk to him but I could not say a word.

I also felt clammy and broke out in a sweat and was really nauseous. The pulsing lasted for about 24 hrs. Right after that 5 to 8 min. window, I stood up and just burst out crying and tried to explain what happened.

    Very scary!

My CT scan is clear which is awesome!! This means the mini-stroke also known as a TIA left no brain damage. I'm thrilled, though its hard to believe that something I thought could be the end of me left no damage...but I won't complain!

I go to see a Neuro on Sept. 2, and he will be ordering more testing and trying to pick apart my medical history and find out what happened and so forth. I'm not looking forward to it but I do want answers.

    God Bless
