I have been reading all of the postings on this site and am moved and touched by such kindness and support for people sharing CF & FM. I am new to boards and have sent one message with a wonderful response. Thank you.

I do not have CF or FM, I am trying to help my grandma in NJ who suffers from both. She is 73 and experiencing a multitude of the common symptoms and problems associated with FM. I am in the midst of trying to get her to Houston for a break and a chance to heal. (She is rapidly getting worse) She has alot of doctors but I don't know if they are really doing the right things for her. She also has alot of family up there, but unfortunately is not recieving any of the love, support or help from them she so desparately needs.

If anyone has any referrals for the Houston area I would greatly appreciate the input. We also think she needs to stay in an assisted living environment until she regains some strenth and her health improves. Any referrals for that are also greatly appreciated.
    thank you for being here!

How nice that your grandmother has such a caring and understanding grandchild. It's amazing how nobody will help when it's needed. Make sure that she has a good rheumatologist. I think that's about the only doc I've had that understood fibromyalgia. Good luck! Where's our friendly Texas members for referrals? dolsgirl

I live in the greater Houston area. Recently diagnosed.
I go to Dr. Louis Berman near the world-renown Houston
Medical Center. He is a very understanding physician
    who listens.

As far as assisted living, I have only visited one or
two in southwest Houston/Sugar Land area. I was looking
for a place for my mom, but her needs are beyond assisted
living about three years ago. It's called Sugar Land Oaks
(off US 90/ near Dairy Ashford). It's part of the Marriott
Hotel chain. It was so nice; wouldn't mind staying there
myself. However a word of caution, bear in mind that administrators and staff have rapid turnover at assisted
living and skilled care facilities...so things may have
    changed.
I'm still trying to take care of my mother. My prayers
are with both you and your grandmother.

Welcome to the board, I have been in CT for the last 6 weeks and missed your post. I also live in the Houston area, NW side near Tomball. I go to a Pain Management specialists for my FM and severe Osteoarthritis. Actually he is the one that diagnosed me as haveing FM. His name is Everton A. Edmondson, MD,PA and his specialties are Neurology/Neuro-oncology/Pain Management he is at 6560 Fannin #1260 Houston, TX 77030 His phone # is 713-797-1180. He has been wonderful so far, has no problem treating my pain. I am just not quit sure what kind of doctor your Grandmother needs. But if you need someone like Dr. Edmondson, I highly recommend him. If you have any other questions, please email me. cpalance@houston.rr.com
And by the way, you are doing a wonderful thing for your grandmother. Most of my family members think it is all in my head. Gee, I look OK. DA Anyway I also have a wonderful family doctor who is in internal medicine. I have been going to him for 13 years and he saved my husbands life more than once. So if you get your grandmother down here, maybe you should start with someone like him. Just a suggestion.
If there is anything I can do, please let me know.
