Is anyone else unhappy with their attorney? I really wanted to use ALLSUP but my doctor wanted me to use this attorney that he knows who only handles SSD.

Well, I signed his papers, gave him copies of all my records, drugs, symptoms and a list of "what I can no longer do". I had spent two months typing away all of my details, most of which I learned on line on how to win your case.

I've emailed him twice and no response to phone calls.

Am I being to picky? I'm trying to be patient but I just want to know; did he file yet, does he think I have a good case, etc.

He said he wanted me to see his psychologist but I CAN'T DO THAT IF HE WON'T TELL ME WHO HE IS.

Sorry, I'm very frustrated. I wish I would have filled myself. I'd be in control of my case then.

I just check the calander and it's only been a little over a week but it feels like FOREVERRRRRRR.

    Yeah, your right.

Just read "hensue" blog. She said she's being a Scarlett, "not going to think about that today".

I'm going to practice that all week.

    Thanks for responding.

It was a bitch getting together all that info. i had it all sent out by late April/Early May.... and still no decision yet. I just keep telling myself "at least they didn't say no!"

    Hang in there!

It was SUCH a longgggggg wait for me. I applied, was denied twice, hired an attorney, a year later, I went to alj and was approved.

The total waiting time was 3 years, 5 months.

Hang in there; most important; see your doctors on a regular basis.

    Good luck,

I know it's going to be a long wait to get approved, that's not what I'm tick about. It's the lack of communication from him. Is that normal for an attorney to just ignore you??? Do I just sit here for months and hope he'll call or let me know whats happening? He could be doing a great job for all I know but I don't know anything. This is hard.

OK, I'm going to be Scarlett now. I just don't care. LOL

    Thanks for responding though,

I don't think that ALLSUP treats their clients like that. They told me that your assigned a "client representative" to talk to.

    Attorney's are _ _ _ _ heads.

    I hear Scarlett calling me.

You could check with the Social Security Administration to see if you have an application.

I hope you kept copies of everything you gave the attorney. If you decide to switch, you will need them.

My attorney had her assistant sit there and do an application by computer the first day we met!!

Once it is filed, THEN everything takes forever!

I did the same thing that you did kitteejo. When I filed last September I was frustrated because I thought that they should talk to me more and go faster so I sent a letter telling them that I was going to file on my own rather and go to them once I am denied. Well, I was and I had to be like "scarlett" but they did their job and won my case without a hearing.

They need to send for your records from your doctor's office to make sure that they have everything and they are not in a hurry- that's what frustrated me!!!!

You can choose to do the same thing and try 1st on your own if you want but be very careful that you don't do anything that could jeopardize the case once you need the atty.

I would wait if I were you- I realized that I would have done just as well if I just kept the atty from the beginning because I ended up paying him anyway.

It takes about 1 month for them to get records (sounds crazy right) even though we can get them within days.

They probably won't use much of what you gave them because they usually only use it in the end when they have to write up a summary. Also, SSA doesn't care what we say- they only care what the doctors say- meaning specialists only.
In my case- rheumatologist and psychologist.

Lawyers are doing this and doing that. In court this day.
You never know what there doing. I have a retainer with a lawyer just enough if Allsup doesnt work out i will go to him. He is an excellent lawyer. Have you paid them?
How long ago? they let their assistants do all the work so i always got real friendly with them. they are the ones who do the real work. If not satisfied and they havent actually filed. Go with Allsup and see. My mother was a judge and i like lawyers. It is a money making business.
They overwhelm thereselves to make a dollar. It is hard for some of them too. If they are not crooked. My expierence with lawyers you have to push and push. Takes forever. Find out with the girls in there they will tell you if they have actually filed. Dont call go there. If not call Allsup. They will come to you.
Then we wait on the system
    Thanks hensue and good luck
Or you could be like Scarlet and worry about that later!

He actually answered my email this morning! I'm in shock! I kind of tricked him by putting my name in the subject line with the word psychologist. It worked!

He has not filed yet but will within the next two weeks.

I have not paid him anything and he won't collect unless we win the case. I had him put in a clause in our agreement that he cannot charge me extra fee's.

This lawyer does not have a staff, he works alone, which also makes me a little worried about him so I have no one to call but him.

Thank you for saying to push-push. That's exactly what I wanted to do but didn't want to be rude.

So I will push him and if he doesn't like it he can drop me and than I WILL go with ALLSUP. I'm going to check to see if he has order my records from my doctor. If he hasn't than he probably hasn't done a thing with my case.

Thank you, thank you for your advise, it is very helpful.

I don't think I will be Scarlett today,

(I like your name). I'm glad that you finally heard from your attorney. I suppose they are all different.

When I hired my attorney, I went in, signed med release forms, etc. everything I needed. If I did need to call them, they would talk with me. However, at the beginning, I was told that it was going to be a long wait; once they sent in the appeal, it was truly a long wait. But; they did come through; withing 60 days after hearing, I received everything within 6 days.

Hang in there and like I said, continue seeing your drs.

Again, I'm happy that your attorney responded.

YOU NEED PATIENCE....he cant hold you hand every second of the day and you are not his only case.
Allsup would do the same thing...relax......

I went to my primary doctor today and the attorney has not requested my records yet. I've been playing Scarlett for two weeks but now that three weeks have pasted I think he lied to me. On our first visit he said he would file "next week". When he finally answered my email he said in the next week or so.

Haven't heard a thing from him. I am going to call tomorrow and see what he says, if I can't get through to him (he has no secretary-only phone mail and it's always full) I will email him.

I'm aware that it will take two years to get approved but if he is starting out this way what will he be like when I need to go to court or a hearing?

My doctor said if I'm not happy to switch attorney's. If he doesn't answer my calls or email I will send him a letter to end our agreement.

I wanted ALLSUP all along and my doctor talked me out of it. I had filled out the application on line with them (ALLSUP) and they were so nice even when I canceled with them.

At least I can talk to my representative at ALLSUP.

I've had an evaluation with a psychiatrist that my primary referred me to. Not happy with his diagnosis but at least it should help my case.

I appreciate all the support and advise. Keep it coming as I need it. I'm so stressed out today.

If I forgot to address something I'll write back again.

    Thanks all,
