OH, MY CHILD, WHY CAN'T YOU SEE? Oh, my child, why can't you see How much you really mean to me? I want to hide you 'neath my wing And cause your wounded heart to sing. I know by others you've been deceived, But you know my Word can be believed. So put your trust in me alone, And I will let my will be known. I long to take you in my arms And keep you safe from all that harms, But you must do your bit, too, For I will not take free will from you. If you want to know my desire for you, Just read my Word, for it is true. Please don't rely on the words of men, Or you will risk being hurt again. So many say they speak for me, And that their words will set you free, But on me alone you can depend, And I will always be your friend. Upon the Cross my blood was shed, And those around thought I was dead, But then I rose up from the grave, From sin and death your life to save. Now I sit at my Father's side, And soon with me you will abide. Then, with all the heavenly throng, You'll find a home where you belong, So watch and wait, I'll soon be there, When I come to meet you in the air. And you will have eternal life, With no more worries, pain or strife. Copyright © 1999 Christine Chipman.
