I just went to my family doc and she said that before she could give me any meds, we would have to have a DX. Well I just figured that what the rhuemotory doc meant when in his letter he siad I have all symtoms of fm. I asked her about this and she acted like fm wasnt even a DX and she said I would have to get DX from my neuroligist. How can I get a DX from them when they have no idea what I have cause all my tests come back okay. I'm stressed...I do have to have one of those echocarigram done this thurssday, someone said not to drink water before, is this true? Gosh I'm more confused then I was before. I also told her I was gonna try disability and asked if she would help me and she said no, so I just kinda looked at her and she said all we do is send in files that we have on you. duh?? Any advice or has this happened to anyone else?

Looks like you got caught in the "who gets to be the dumbest doc game". I wonder why the specialist who dxed you didn't give you your prescription. I don't wonder that you should find an informed and cooperative doc and leave your family doc in the dust. Say goodbye to her/him for me too! Al

sorry sweety im now confussed with you i thought that the rhem is the one the dx would have to come from most neuro ive met or even heard from dont belive in fm,she shouldnt also need a dx of fm to treat pain if your in pain she should treat it if your depressed she should treat that if you cant sleep she should treat that!she sounds like a real bit-- if you can find a new primary ,i realy wish i could help,

home page here and you can also post a new topic asking if anyone here lives in your area they can recommend a doc to you. If you want to know about drinking water or anything before the test I would call the doc ordering the test and ask his office. Follow there directions to you. Nurologists many don't believe in FMS so you may want to call ones around you first to see if they do believe.
You said the Rhummy said FMS consistant. Why are you not getting meds from them and having them treat you. If you don't like them then find another. You need the doc to be on your side for disability. They must agree so you'll need to find one that will.

Good luck and let us know what happens, Kim and Gary

He said I needed to also see my neurogists again. He said my family doc can treat me for fm. Where were you talking about on the homepage about finding a fm doc in my are?

carlacat i've been where you are at now. i called it the doc toss. started with family doc sending me to nero and then the nero sent me to the rheumy. no one wanted to say what was wrong and no one wanted to give me any pain meds. i fired all three and the nero was going to call the cops on me to leave the office. i was really mad at him. run as fast as you can from this little circle. i truly think that this is the good ole boy system and if you are not carefull you could be caught in the middle with no help. keep searching for the right docs. don't give up. with the disability stuff i don't know about it. fight and research all you can. you can get help but it is not easy. majic
