My god, I have to get this out!!! Please don't think of me as a nut cse- When I was 3 years old my family doctor diagnosed me with Polio- My dad and mom used to take me to a specialist in the city- I even remember his name- anyways I had it in one leg and a curved spine- i had to where special shoes with one built up- and sand bag or weight on the leg while doing an exercise...

They said I should grow out of it- BUT I just did google search and they are finding more of these cases popping after years- and the signs could me like fibro- THIS scares me- cause I remember my older sister saying "You'll be in a wheel chair" only you know how mean kids can be...

I'm afraid to tell my medical doctor- she is going to think
I'm a hypo..... whaterver that word is. Alot of the symptoms are what I'm facing now.

I am really scared- My God. Please give me strength

Are you familiar with "Post-Polio Syndrome"..?

A lot of researchers believe that it's really CFS, but if you were diagnosed with Polio and are starting to have symptoms that are similar to Polio, they call it PPS.

There is evidence that the immune system dysfunction seen in CFIDS causes "latent" viruses to become re-activated (like EBV and other stuff?).

Google Post-Polio Syndrome or see "Osler's Web" by Hillary Johnson. A lot of outbreaks that sound like CFIDS were documented as "atypical Polio".

I know a woman with this diagnosis, and her symptoms are virtually identical to CFS.

    I hope this helps,

Well, you told God and us, so you should be covered.
Just do not worry any more. Putting things in perspective usually helps. Go to the doc or series of docs until you can get a definitive recovery plan.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Yet-it may just be another bump along the road. Yes, it is a tough disease, but we all have to be strong not to fall into other people's negativity.

My good friend has Post-Polio Syndrome. She also has FM.

She is on disability but she is able to run several small businesses and earn up to a certain amount of money.

I would just lay it all out to the doctor. If you think those are the symptoms you're having I would not hesitate to bring it up.

Hi all, I am more calm now- sorry to get so scared- but the pain is so real and I know there is something going on in my body besides depression and anxiety...

Today I wrote a letter to my doctor and took it to drop off. Asking her to call me please... I also went on the librarys web site and checked on some articles-

I feel better today, I'm trying to pace myself but keep on pluggin'

    Thanks for the input.

My doctor called me today- and of course we need to run tests- which I new, but still working on trying to get some kind of insurance for myself.... I have tried various, either we make too much or the insurance will cost us too much. There is one more available source I have to contact in the AM.

Just to let you all know- I e-mailed the March of Dimes and asked them for some guidance- they were really the org. in the days of Polio.

    Thank you all for listening
