Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds

A grandfather is a man grandmother.

Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when
we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play
    hard or run.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things
    like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

    They don't say, "Hurry up."

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if
we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if
you don't have television, because they are the only grown
ups who like to spend time with us.

A 6 YEAR OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED 'OH,' HE
SAID, 'SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT, AND WHEN WE WANT HER WE
JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE'RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE
TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT.'

Have to print it up to read to my 8 year old grandson, who is brilliant and will love it and laugh himself silly!

    Thank you so much!

I have to put this on this thread hope you don't mind.

My 8 year old noticed that his (adopted) grandpa has got a gut he didn't have before.

This is the new term my son calls getting a bit thick in the waist.

Hey grampa " you let your self out" LOL, we got a good laugh out of that when he finally explained as he pointed to the belly.

So I am sitting eating my son came to me and said:

" Mom, you really need to be careful, you might LET YOUR SELF OUT just like grampa did" I weight 95 lbs on a good day. LOL

I am thinking this could be the new kinder phrase for the new millenium.

Okay now for another of my sons brilliant observations, why and how he thinks of this stuff I will never know.

I don't go to church, too hard for me. So I have taught him at home, we read a childrens bible, I also taught him about the birds and the bees a couple years ago.

Well he wanted to know about year ago how babies when they are in the belly eat. I explained the belly button and the umbillico cord ( spelling ). As you can imagine this is not a subject we talk about often, last time was prob 6 mos ago.

Anyway, he was in brushing his teeth the other night and said to me.

" Hey mom, did you know that ADAM and EVE didn't have belly buttons?"

I replied " Why do you say that?"

He replied to me "Well mom you told me that babies eat in the mothers belly, so they need the belly buttons to get the food, and God made Adam, and Eve came from Adam's bones. So mom they didn't need to have belly buttons."

I was a little suprised that this all came to him in a flash as he was brushing his teeth. Actually he never ceases to amaze me or his teachers with the things that come out of his mouth. They put in his report card I just got they look forward to his thought process and imagination for the last term this school year.
