Has anyone had a CT Scan? Also, know about CT Scan machines..

I am scheduled to have a scan with contrast on Friday. The machine is a 16 slice which is older.

Some facilities have a 64 slice scanner which means it takes a better picture and is easier on you.

The place that has the 16 slice CT has asked me to drink contrast solution. I see on the internet, with the 64 slice, they only mention a IV contrast.

I have alot of digestive problems and do not want to drink the contrast solution if possible.

    Does anyone know about this?

I have seen them do IV or oral contrast. In this article it says even enema, hmmm don't think so lol. Anyway here is a link to a good site to tell you about it. I think if you have problems with abdomen then tell your doc and maybe he could do IV or do without contrast (just not as effective as with) Hope the site helps.

I found a radiology lab that has a 64 slice CT scan and they use a thin water like contrast with no flavor instead of the chalky banana flavored drink.

    Thanks...
