OT - EASY NUTRITIOUS RECIPE

    Hi, here is a very easy recipe for what I call "Bean Stuff"

    1 can kidney beans (juice and all)
    1 can kernal corn (juice and all)
    2 cans stewed tomatoes
    1 lb lean ground beef
    1/2 chopped onion
    salt to taste (you may not need to add extra salt)
    small amt Chili Powder to taste (I don't use it)


    Brown beef and onion and drain any excess fat. Dump in other ingredients and simmmer 15 minutes. This is surprisingly good. You can cook a larger recipe and serve several dinners - Cornbread is good with this.

    Also, the following coleslaw recipe:

    Shredded cabbage
    Best Foods Mayonaise - 1/2 to 1 cup depending on amt cabbage
    Sugar - start with 1 Tablespoon and taste.

    I've copied that one down. 'Beans Stuff' is a better name than 'Glop', which is what I call the following:

    some kind of starch - pasta, rice, potato
    some kind of protein - meat, legume, fish, mushroon
    one or more vegetables
    some kind of sauce - cheese sauce, cream of something soup

    precook any ingredient that requires it, such as rice, pasta, or meat.
    Mix everything in a sauce pan and heat thoroughly.
    Top with something like cheese, parsley, or sunflower seeds, if you feel like it.

    This is basically a stovetop casserole. In fact, any casserole recipe I have ever seen can be cooked in a pan on the stovetop instead of in the oven in a casserole dish.
