Please remember I wrote this about 9 years ago when I still enjoyed working in the yard. I no longer have flowerbeds, just pots and raised planters on my deck.

    Spring?

I do not like this time of year!
    It confuses me I fear.
I look outside and see the sun,
And think the flowerbed! What fun!

And so out to the shed I go,
To get my shovel, rake and hoe,
    Some seeds I didn’t know I had,
I hope they haven’t all turned bad.

So with my tools, my happy grin,
I turn and head outside again.
But as outside I start to go
    I can’t believe it, I see snow!

I put away the final tool,
Head back inside, I’m such a fool.
To think that spring had finally come.
Back to the house and feeling glum.

Pick up a book, a cup of tea,
I look outside, what do I see?
The sun is shining all around,
Crocus are popping from the ground!

I drop the book, forget the tea,
And head outside, what fun for me.
This time I’ll only take the hoe.
I think you know, it starts to snow!

I put the tools back in the shed,
And back into the house I head.
It will not fool me again,
    I won’t go out, I’m staying in!

I fix more tea, a blanket, too.
I settle back, kick of my shoes,
I plan to sit and read my book,
And then outside, I had to look!

I see the sun is shining there,
I close the blinds, I just don’t care!
    I’ll stay indoors until July,
And then I’ll have another try!

    Hope this made you smile!

What fun reading your poem! It gave me a lot of deep belly-laughs!!! You really constructed it so well - the narrative works so beautifully.

Would it be okay if I printed it out? copyright to Greenbean.(LOL) I hope you're writing more, this one is really good.

    Yes,you can print it out.

I used to handle the book table for our Christian Women's Club. I had to do a short presentation at the meetings regarding the books. I originally wrote this for the meeting in February, probably about 1996.

It had been warm for about a week and the day of the meeting it turned really cold and we had snow and ice. I sat down and wrote this out on the morning of the meeting.

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Oh, how I wish I had a puppy to smell!!! Enjoyed reading about your animals in your bio.

What are some of your favorite Christian writers? I love books passionately. some of mine are Madeleine L'Engle, Tolkien, Susan Howatch, Lewis, of course, Anne Lamott, Jan Karon. An ecclectic bunch, which makes it all more interesting.

Ok, you are really overworking my brain here!

I like Billy Graham's daughter whose name I can't remember. When she speaks she has a wonderful southern accent and when I read her books I here them in her voice.

    Max Lucado,he is so inspirational!

Can't remember the name of the woman who wrote "Bad Girls of the Bible" and "Really Bad Girls of the Bible".

Looks like I'm better with titles than authors!

I've also read part of a series about a man who finds biblical artifacts. One of the books he went up on Mt. Ararat to find the ark. Sorry, can't remember his name either!
