So, we spent the night in the ER last night. My 9-yr old girl came in to my room at 3am in a panic, unable to catch her breath. I was terrified as we live 20 - 30 min from the hosp.

Well I drove really fast and they jumped on her the minut we walked through the door. I've never walked into an ER and gone straight in before. It was so scary. We emediately had drs around and breathing apparatous (sp?). I was trying so hard not to show her how scared I was.

After several steroidal breathing treatments an a shot she was breathing OK again. They took x-rays and showed no pneumonia but she did have some bronchial stuff. Mostly they thought it was a bad case of Croup.

They want me to take her to a specialist later in the week to follow up because she was running a pretty good fever which I guess is inconsistant w/ croup.

So now she is on abx AND prednisone for the next 4 days. UGH! When will this ever end???! I feel so helpless.

She's home now and resting. They said if that happens again to call 911. How am I going to sleep tonight??

Thanks for being there. I need someone to be there so bad.

I think it is the most scared I've been as a parent. As I was driving her to the ER I just kept praying over and over "please don't let her die". There's nothing that describes that feeling.

    Thank you for listening.
