I just had surgery to remove my gallbladder. It was day surgery, but I was back in yesterday for pain management. I've had other laproscoptic surgery before. But the PAIN was incredible compared to the others. Anyway, I have a Dr's appt for tomorrow for the pain clinic. Any suggestions on how to make them believe that I truly hurt all over, especially my legs. Right now I take Skelaxin, Darvocet, phenegran, and duragesic patch. Also, do they provide sleep medicine or anti depressants? Or do I need to go back to my PCP?

Can't help with your question, but wanted to say I wish you well, and hope you get some relief soon.

The board is going to be slow on this Holiday weekend, so this is also a bump up too!

    Take care,

    Shalom, Shirl

If you're pcp is the one who gave you the patch & Darvocet, maybe give him a call today. Tell him you just need something temporary (small prescription) for something stronger while you're recovering.

Tomorrow is a long time to wait when you're in pain. I believe the ER will also give you at least a day's worth of pain meds till you can get into the pain clinic.

    Best wishes. Michele

My pcp doctor is the one who referred me to the pain specialist, in the pain docs words, because he felt uncomfortable with writing me narcotic prescriptions.

They had told me that it would take 2 months to get in to see this Dr., so I took the first available, 2 days after surgery.

I'm not sure how to read the Pain Dr. She seemed to think I was on pain killers a long time. I've been on them 2 months and I only take 1/2 a darvocet every 4 hours, if there's break through pain. She told me to quit the darvocet altogether and that they would drug test me, at my cost, to make sure I"m only on the duragesic patch. I don't drink or do drugs?? I had to sign a contract to say that I wouldn't lose, sell, etc..any of the patches. Is this normal?

I feel like I'm being stereotyped as a druggy, when I thought the pain specialist would offer advice on how to get through this. I'm very frustrated tonight and have lost my train of thought.

    Thank you for replying

Are you kidding!!You had to sign a contract!there goes my thoughts of seeing a pain specialist!!LOL Too strict for my blood!I hardly think your an addict taking a half of a darvecet!(but I'm sure they made you feel like one).I've run into that too. They make ya feel like we're taking from their stash!lol I myself need 2 at a time~ I've heard some good about Ultram-I think I'll "BEG"for some.
Hope you find some relief soon.
    Best regards,

When I had a D&C on Aug 1 I was in HORRIBLE pain. I have had general anesthesia before but this was BAD. I hurt all over ... real bad in the legs. Dr said anesthesia was taking a while to get out of my system and that the FM probably played a role too. Good luck.

Janine, I read your post and it sounded just like what I went through.I had peripheral neuropathy but was getting along on a tylenol + codeine and a small xanax to help me sleep. I had my tail bone removed and when I came home I could`nt swallow so could`nt get my pain meds. down (not even crushed up in apple sauce) I was dehydrated and crawled(literally) into the car + went to emergency to get fluid. I could smell + taste the anathesia and was in pain all over my body. No-one would believe me and I have fought not knowing what they did to me for a year. It sent me into a tail-spin with FMS and I went to a pain specialist in Florida and am on oxycontin, neurontin ,klonopin and lortabs for break-through pain and am still in pain all the time. I told the surgeon he ruined my life but the worst is not knowing what happened to me in surgery or if something was wrong with the anathesia. I`d like to keep in touch with you and see how you are doing if you would like. My address is Homenest@webtv.net. My very best to you . Clueless
